We are recruiting for a Trainee Application Support Technician to join our ICT team here at Public Sector Partnership Services.
You will join the Application Support team, supporting a range of business focused applications. The role is multifaceted covering database administration, fault diagnosis and business analysis. Responsibilities will include installation, maintenance, and technical support of several software products and applications used by PSPS and its clients.
This role will help support in the delivery of high performing digital services designed to improve and enhance the end user experience of the Company, its Client Councils and the 300,000 residents of the districts.
Software applications are varied to support the array of businesses in the Councils and include some provided by well-known local government software suppliers. The environment is predominantly Microsoft Windows based and includes various database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and Ingres.
With support from the team, you will learn how to install and maintain a range of software products in a client, thin client/server environments. You will have the opportunity to learn about software interfaces and integration between products whilst liaising between software suppliers and users, raising, managing and resolving issues.
What we are looking for:
A motivated and ambitious individual with a passion for ICT
A curious and positive attitude with a desire to learn, solve problems and help others..
A broad knowledge of ICT with the ability to understand and articulate common terms such LAN, WAN, DMZ, Data and Cyber security etc.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Though no previous work experience in ICT is essential, please provide examples of your ICT interests, be they software, hardware or networking based, as part of your application.
