About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled JavaScript Developer to join our team remotely from any U.S. jurisdiction not excluded by the current job advertisement. This role involves supporting the development, maintenance, and enhancement of solutions for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of JavaScript development experience, with proficiency in modern frameworks and tools such as React 18, TypeScript, GitHub, Prometheus, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. The developer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable APIs, support CI/CD pipelines, monitor system health, and ensure the delivery of reliable, high-impact applications. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of JavaScript development experience
- Proficiency in JavaScript and above-average skills in TypeScript
- Strong experience with React 18 framework
- Experience with GitHub for source control management
- Knowledge of Prometheus for monitoring and logging
- Experience configuring and working with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Harness, Nexus, SonarQube, HashiCorp Vault)
- Ability to monitor dashboards such as Grafana for system health and metrics
- Experience with container images and promotion pipelines using Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of RESTful API design and integration with third-party services
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Experience supporting federal agencies and healthcare environments (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in team settings and with clients
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency with at least 3 years of residence in the U.S.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust security clearance
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient and reliable JavaScript applications using React 18
- Support and enhance applications with TypeScript, ensuring code quality and performance
- Deploy applications within Docker containers and manage them using Kubernetes orchestration
- Build, test, and promote container images as part of containerization efforts
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services to extend application functionality
- Collaborate in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and testing processes
- Conduct code reviews, identify defects, and implement fixes to ensure code reliability
- Monitor system health and performance metrics via Prometheus and Grafana dashboards
- Participate in Agile development cycles, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of code, processes, and system configurations
- Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure project alignment and timely delivery
- Support troubleshooting and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime
