Wrightbus is a fast-moving company which has experienced considerable growth in the last year. As part of this continued growth we are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering Design team. The successful candidate will have responsibility to support the further development of our Electrical Engineering Design, specifically planning and integration of the electrical control for bus body and chassis electrical systems with respect to hardware components, harnesses and panels.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Support the NPD Strategy for EV, FCEV and HEV electrical control systems.
Support the development of electric powertrain charging systems.
Participate in the vehicle life cycle development through concept to engineering design, prototype build, certification, to Job 1
Work effectively within a cross-functional team on the overall vehicle development
Elicit external and internal stakeholder requirements for new product developments.
Selection of electrical components and systems into new and existing vehicle designs ensuring products used meet required standards.
Design and specification of electrical hardware components for the integration of vehicle subsystems, e.g. fuseboards, switchboxes.
Liaise with suppliers and manage the progress to meet timing, specification, and engineering requirements
Undertake the technical assessment and analysis of components and systems and develop optimal solutions to meet overall vehicle requirements.
Design, and develop CAN communications systems and architecture.
Design of low and high voltage control for bus body and chassis electrical systems,including wiring harnesses and electrical panels.
Document, validate and provide FMEA for design reviews and NPD gateways.
Creation of technical documentation with respect to the vehicle electrical system and installation eg. Wiring schematics, system schedules, harness drawings, electrical engineering standards and procedures.
Provide and co-ordinate vehicle test plans and commissioning, testing and data logging of vehicle control systems.
Provide Technical assistance to production, support engineers and the customer.
Continued development of electrical system to improve ease of installation and to reduce the cost of manufacture.
Co-ordinate with assembly and manufacturing teams to ensure that the assembly of the electrical system is correctly defined and implemented.
Provide system technical information and documentation for both internal and external customers.

Purpose of Post
To select suppliers who will supply materials at the optimum acquisition cost ensuring quality standards are maintained and departmental goals achieved.

Key Task

Responsible for maintaining the material cost on the Bill of Materials for all products within the commodities you are responsible for and ensuring costs are less than the current sales quotation per contract.
Responsible for issuing requests for quotation (RFQ’s) for any new parts added to the Bill of Materials within the allotted components.
Populate Sage System with the price, lead-time and supplier details as necessary.
To manage the engineering process, to purchase new parts and ensure the suppliers are supplying to the correct revisions of drawings.
Liaise with supplier on delivery key performance indicators – such as shortages, quality & invoice queries.
To actively contribute to achieving departmental goals and objectives. Relating to supplier reduction and cost reductions.
To initiate supplier agreements and see them through to implementation
To actively contribute to New Product Introduction projects.
Source new suppliers for items within the allocated commodities.
Discuss with suppliers to achieve optimum batch sizes and hence reduce costs.
To analyze the cost of manufacture of parts considering the cost of raw materials, labour costs, machining costs to ensure the company is getting value for money from the subcontracting supply base.
To compare drawings of new parts with existing parts to ensure cost increases or decreases are justified.
Recover money owed from suppliers for non-performance and warranty claims.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, or a related field.
Proven experience in graphic design, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, and layout principles.
Familiarity with web design and digital marketing.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills – team player.
Creative thinking and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work within established brand guidelines.
