The prime objective of the role is to provide commercial analysis and insight, financial reporting, and forecasting, and to influence and challenge business decisions to maximise business profit.

Key Operational Accountabilities:

• Business partnering with the onsite operations team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting certain aspects of the financial accounting, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting for the company. Reinsurance Accounting

• Assist with all aspects of monthly and quarterly reinsurance premiums and claims reporting from internal business unit level reporting and legal entity reviews to external SEC, GAAP and local Singapore regulatory reporting
• Assist with maintaining an appropriate S.O.X 404 control environment for the booking of premiums and claims and related transactions in both the reinsurance accounting systems and the general ledger

• Assist with the timely monthly and quarterly close of the reinsurance systems

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Assisting with audit process, liaising with external and internal auditors to provide required information
on various audits.
• Assisting and preparation of various tax lodgements and statutory compliance to ensure accurate
external regulatory reporting.
• Cashflow reporting and forecast, overseeing banking process.
• Management of FX Revaluations and Intercompany transactions.
• Problem solving as and when required on accounting issues.
• Partnering with the wider internal finance team to ensure accuracy of information and transparent
communication between teams as well as supporting Operations personnel in NRI’s Finance
processes.
• Identify and provide insights to improve accounting processes in their efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assisting with various accounting projects as and when required.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis reports to various stakeholders.
• Management of Revenue and Cost processing, along with debtor management.
• Management of inventory valuations and optimal stock balances.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Ability to analyse and communicate effectively financial information including exposure to financial
statement preparation and external auditors.
• Strong knowledge of technical accounting such as accounting standards, practices and concepts.
• Effective relationship management skills and demonstrated ability build effective relationships with
non-financial stakeholder.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an inquisitive mindset to critically evaluate
accounting and compliance issues.
• High level of ERP system and advanced Excel proficiency is required.
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to reporting deadlines.
• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight
• CPA/CA qualified with a relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent

About the role
Located in our Brisbane Corporate office and reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you will be key in assisting and ensuring the successful preparation and delivery of Curragh?s financial results in compliance with Executive Management and, internal and external reporting timeframes. This role is permanent full-time.
Your role will be rewarding and varied, where you will: 

Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for the Australian mining entity within required month-end reporting timeframes, ensuring compliance with USGAAP and AIFRS. 
Prepare monthly accounting activities for Curragh, including accounts receivable recognition, port, rail, demurrage, prepayments, accruals, intercompany transactions, asset retirement obligations and foreign currency revaluations.
Prepare the coal inventory model, collaborating with technical services, sales and marketing teams for physical and stockpile information
Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations 
Assist in yearly budget preparation for Curragh
Assist with quarter and year-end

What you'll need to succeed

Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting.
Minimum three years' experience in an accounting role.

Professionally mannered with good written and verbal communication skills
