The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery unit is expanding to meet the needs of the population of East Kent. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Head & Neck Surgeon to join a team of 7 Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. The Trust is going through a period of redevelopment, having attracted national investment to deliver a critical care hub for Kent and Medway. A new 24-bed Intensive Care Unit has been built at the Willian Harvey Hospital, to include bespoke training facilities, including dedicated space for in-situ simulation training. The William Harvey site is also the Trauma centre for East Kent. Robotic Head & Neck surgery is offered through the Kent and Canterbury site which is also the vascular centre for Kent & Medway.

The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality Maxillo Facial Surgical patient services, including elective and emergency, outpatient, day-case and inpatient management.

The Consultant will be responsible for prioritising patient lists for outpatient appointments and admissions within the nationally defined targets. Post holder will be encouraged to develop further specialist interests as part of general OMFS commitment in addition to Head and Neck Oncology sub specialty interest.

Support the Service Manager to embed expected patient care standards ensuring they are achieved and maintained in all aspects of administration work and communications to support the patient.
Provide a point of contact for patient complaints/incidents, reviewing and actively seeking to resolve, escalating to the Service Manager as required.

The Fellowship includes all aspects of Advanced Head and Neck Surgery with a particular emphasis on Transoral Robotic Surgery using robotic systems that are presently in regular clinical use within the Trust. These include the daVinci X and XI systems (Intuitive Surgical) and The Versius system (CMR surgical). The post holder would have the opportunity to develop and participate in a novel TORS teaching program and would be supported with a view to developing sufficient skills and proficiency to achieve TORS Console certification. The successful candidate will be working as part of a combined Head and Neck surgical oncology unit primarily under the supervision of Mr Asit Arora (Head and Neck Robotic Surgery Lead) in addition to Mr Jean-Pierre Jeannon. Mr Arora is a proctor in Head and Robotic Surgery for Intuitive Surgical, sits on the TORS Medical Advisory Board for CMR Surgical and runs a PhD program in Surgical technology at KCL.

The post holder will lead on the review, design, programme management and commissioning of children and young peoples mental health services to ensure that Gloucestershires population experience seamless pathways of care and quality services that improve outcomes. The post holder will lead on programme managing the overall childrens mental health programme and lead on delivering major programmes of work and elements of programmes as directed by the Deputy Director of Integrated Commissioning. Currently major areas of work include: Children and Young Peoples Mental Health CAMHS Transformation programme including waiting list initiatives and recovery planning. The roll out and expansion of the Young Minds Matter service/Mental Health Support Teams. Lead elements of work relating to how children and young peoples mental health services interface with other areas of provision e.g. primary care, education and inclusion and acute care. Oversee the social prescribing and creative health provision for children and young people in relation to mental health support. Oversee Perinatal and Infant Mental Health services including developing a Parent Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) These plans will be delivered in the context of national guidance, local engagement and needs and the overarching organisational strategy and will use the ICB transformation approach to support delivery.
