Summary: The Manager is responsible for the accounting and reporting matters related to his/ her assigned region, ensuring accuracy of financial and statistical information, and compliance with internal policies and external laws and legislations.

Job Description

• Assist Line Managers with the preparation of weekly flash report.
• Prepare monthly P&L statements for the assigned services. Ensure team members complete the monthly closing for their services on time.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of monthly reports to the management. These include regional P&L, commentaries, actual vs. flash variance analysis, actual vs. budget gap analysis, etc...
• Prepare schedules for balance sheet accounts related to cost provisions, unearned/ unbilled revenue, cost recoveries, stock and prepayments. Ensure appropriate actions are taken, and in a timely manner.
• Liaise with external auditors on audit matters and manage the audit process.
• Drive preparation of regional forecasts (quarterly) and budget (annually). This includes ensuring reasonable assumptions are used by Line Managers and the forecast/ budget is reflective of current conditions and business plan. Revenue and cost drivers are to be properly analyzed and presented to management. Ensure submission of reports within stipulated deadlines.
• Being an effective business partner to the regional director and managers. Take pro-active steps to engage regional director and managers in understanding the performance drivers in greater depth, going beyond a pure reporting function. Drive value added analysis to provide useful business insights to support/ improve decision making.
• Ensure efficient and effective operation of disbursements process – include ensuring disbursements are checked for accuracy, relevant supporting documents are submitted and verified, disputes are resolved promptly, monthly reconciliations are prepared and discrepancies are followed up, and any advances given are accounted for/ recovered timely.
• Identify areas of improvements to existing processes/ systems. Take on lead role in system implementation/ improvement projects.
• Other ad-hoc work or projects may be given from time to time.

• Degree in Accounting with a CA qualification or its equivalent.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years of audit experience with a big 4 accounting firm.
• Experience in Shipping is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
• Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous and organized.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Good team player and manager with capability to lead, develop and drive performance of the team members.
• Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

About the role

You will be part of the Internal Audit Office responsible for the provision of independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve operations of the University. You will plan and perform business and operational audits, supporting the University in ensuring internal controls of various activities and functions are in place and effective, and also provide recommendations to management to improve business processes and manage risks.

Responsibilities:

• Support the preparation or update of the audit universe, audit work plan and risk assessment, focusing on business and operational processes.

• Plan and perform risk-based audits and / or advisory functions to ascertain compliance with the University’s rules, policies and procedures, and report on discrepancies noted and improvements required in processes and internal control mechanisms.

• Prepare clear and concise written reports to communicate audit results to management and make appropriate recommendations.

• Manage and deliver multiple audit projects on committed timelines while maintaining audit quality.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or relevant qualifications.

• Possess at least 5 to 8 years of relevant audit working experience with exposure in the private and public sector.

• Having relevant certifications such as CIA, CISA, CA and experience using data analytics tools and audit management applications would be preferably considered.

• Essential for candidates to possess strong technical, analytical, verbal communication, report writing and project management skills.

Qualifications 
Applicants should have relevant industry and/or academic experience, a passion for teaching, and need to have at least a Masters degree, with a PhD being preferred. Knowledge of analytics tools, programming languages (e.g., R, SAS, or Python), statistical software, and their applications to accounting will be essential for the area of Data Analytics for Accounting and Auditing, including in the areas of Sustainability Reporting and Management, and Financial Reporting.

Senior Lecturers are expected to excel at teaching and service, work closely with students, and contribute to practice-based research, programme development and campus life. There should be clear evidence of scholarship of teaching and learning, including research or innovation in teaching and learning. Initial appointment term is generally for three years.
