Working within the Stroke team, the Audit Administrator would be predominantly responsible for collecting and inputting data to the National Stroke database (SSNAP) and internal databases. These mainly focus on: Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) and Patient Experience.



To carry out your duties, you will need to be a self-motivated individual with great attention to detail and have excellent administrative skills.

Accuracy is essential to this role, ensuring the that our audit data and processes are compliant.

Organizing and supporting on regular Stroke data quality and service development meetings; this includes minute taking, sharing of learning points, recording actions and circulation to team members.

The Patient Safety Incident Investigator will support the Associate Director of Nursing - Insights and Learning to provide Trust-wide oversight, assuring quality and effectiveness of all types of patient safety investigations as part
of the Trust’s annually agreed Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP). This is required within the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) which has been implemented in response the NHS Patient Safety Strategy (2019). The Patient Safety Incident Investigator will undertake robust patient safety incident investigations by working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to investigate, analyse and use judgement through the collation of evidence and findings using the agreed methods within the Trust’s PSIRP. The post holder will also assist healthcare professionals across the Trust to deliver safer care through an understanding of the effects of teamwork, tasks, equipment, workspace, culture and organisation on human behaviour and identify contributory factors when incidents occur and make recommendations for systemic improvements. The Department of General Surgery comprises 11 Consultants, 11 Specialty Trainees/Clinical Fellows ranging from ST3 to ST8 level and 20 more junior level trainees. Particular specialty interest include Colorectal, Vascular and Breast surgery including laparoscopic colorectal surgery and oncoplastic reconstruction. It is a busy clinical environment with a large volume of elective and emergency surgery and scope for personal development. A number of our current trust grade registrars are completing their FRCS examinations.

Swindon is a major town set within the rural beauty of Wiltshire, nestling between the Cotswolds to the North and Marlborough Downs to the South. Travel to major cities including Bristol, Oxford and London is easy with very frequent rail links and within an hour’s journey by rail. The M4 motorway is within a couple of miles for travel by road. The successful candidate will work within one of three teams; GI, Vascular or Breast. Together with their
colleagues they will be responsible for the day to day management of their team’s in-patients, perform the
duties of the on-call general surgical registrar and attend theatre and out-patients. If appointed you will be
one of 10 general surgical registrars who all participate in the on-call with an F1 and an F2 assisting them.
The successful candidate also will be expected to participate with the training of junior staff and medical
students attached to the general surgery department.

(two colorectal and one upper gastrointestinal) for appointment, providing on call cover for the team on a
EWTD compliant, 1 in 11 rolling rota, and providing ward cover for the team’s in-patients. There is also a
second-on-call rota covering the surgical admissions unit during office hours which is 1 in 12. There is ample
opportunity for “hands-on” surgical training in the operating theatre. Each general surgical firm consists of a
consultant, a registrar, a core trainee/clinical fellow/F2 and an F1. The successful candidate will have
opportunity to take study leave to attend examinations and courses as required.

The department has a 5-bay resuscitation area, a 13-bay majors trolly area, an ambulatory majors area, a minor theatre a plaster room and an 8 bedded observation area. The department is located adjacent to Radiology. Recently the integrated front door project has delivered a newbuild Urgent treatment centre. Building is underway to deliver a new Emergency Department and Children’s Emergency Unit in 2024.



60% of the post will be Emergency Medicine clinical care allowing an opportunity for doctors wanting to gain experience and responsibility in not just managing patients but managing a busy department.
