Overview of the Role
Rystad Energy is seeking a proven Account Manager with a strong track record of strategic account management and business development to manage, retain, and grow the firm’s largest Global Accounts in APAC. Key responsibilities / tasks:
· Analyze international and country level coal markets to understand supply & demand and price movements for both thermal and metallurgical coal.
· Gather country and asset level coal related data where appropriate to populate our in-house data base. Data includes: coal production, exports, imports and consumption volumes of the various types of coal
· Research and analyze coals’ role in the energy transition plans for individual countries and understand what it means for future thermal and metallurgical coal demand

The Analyst should be able to adjust their regional analysis to keep pace with the rapidly changing market conditions. They should also be able to discuss potential changes in the market and the impact these will have on regional balances.
The foundation of our research products is high volume of factual data, combined with sophisticated in-house data management systems and forecasting tools, to model physical relationships and market mechanisms governing the oil market and other global energy systems.
In this round we are looking for (i) one analyst to cover Asia and to be located in Bangalore.
Tasks:
· Monitor and analyze short-term regional crude oil and oil products market developments
· Perform fundamental analysis, including supply, demand, trade flows, and inventories for regional crude oil and refined products
· Derive regional balances for crude and refined products
· Derive price signals emerging from the resulting regional balances
· Add insight and value to the general research, product development and client facing activities of the respective product teams
· Present our research at conferences and in front of clients
· Assist senior members of the team with routine and ad-hoc written reports and presentations, both internal and external
· Become the regional in-house oil expert
We are looking for motivated candidates with a strong academic track record, an analytical mindset, and quantitative skills to strengthen our regional oil balance team.
· University degree (Master or Bachelor) within Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or similar is required
· Demonstrated knowledge of the oil market
· Strong quantitative skills
· Experience with oil price, data, and information providers such as Bloomberg or Refinitiv/Eikon or S&P Global (former Platts) is a plus
· Knowledge of database design, SQL and Python (or similar) is a plus
· Understands the importance of attention to detail in composing a complete and representative picture of the commodities market
· Proactive, independent, open-minded, and creative
· Thrives in a fast-paced environment, and a strong multi-tasker

The APAC Client Success Head will report to the Global Head of Client Success (based in Oslo) as well as the APAC Commercial Head (based in Singapore).
