Hotel Operations Manager

Decent Flexibility for Hotel Operations, But It's a Grind
Pros: I've found some decent work flexibility when it comes to administrative tasks. You can often handle certain reports from home, which is a big plus for a Hotel Operations Manager. They're generally understanding if you need a planned day off, especially for personal appointments.
Cons: The "on-site" nature of managing a boutique hotel means true work from home options are extremely limited. It's tough to get real work-life balance when you're always needed. Don't expect a lot of spontaneous flexibility, especially with weekend coverage.
Advice to Management: Try to find more ways to support hybrid models for back-office tasks, even for hotel management roles. This could really help with burnout for teams in the hospitality industry.

Great culture, slow growth for designers
Pros: The company culture at Makeready is truly awesome. Everyone is genuinely friendly and there's a strong team spirit, especially within the Los Angeles office. It's a pretty collaborative environment for creative roles like a Product Designer.
Cons: Sometimes leadership lacks clear direction, which can make project planning tough. While the culture is good, career growth for Product Designers can feel a bit stagnant if you're looking to move up fast. Projects in the hospitality group can also feel rushed.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer career paths for individual contributors. Improve communication from the top down for project planning in the hospitality sector.

Leadership has some strong points, but needs work
Pros: I've enjoyed the creative freedom as a Project Manager on many hospitality development projects. Senior leadership has a pretty clear vision for what they want, and the hybrid work option in Nashville, TN, is a big plus.
Cons: Communication from mid-level leadership can be spotty, making it hard to get project approvals fast. There's also some inconsistency in how different teams handle critical real estate development milestones.
Advice to Management: Focus on consistent communication, especially with middle managers, and clarify expectations for new hospitality development projects. Clearer guidance would really help Project Managers succeed.
