Flexibility Varies by Department and Role
Pros: Some non-operational departments actually have decent hybrid work options, especially for certain back-office roles. If your manager is understanding, you might get some work-from-home days even in the Hong Kong office. They are trying to adapt to new work styles.
Cons: Unfortunately, for many core airline industry positions, like an Operations Coordinator, it's mostly an onsite role. Remote work options are limited for these essential functions. It can make work-life balance tough when you're always in the office.
Advice to Management: Standardize hybrid work policies across the board where possible, especially for support functions. Don't let old ways of thinking prevent more flexibility for dedicated staff in the airline industry.

Tough to get WFH in Hong Kong Ops
Pros: The team I worked with in airline operations was great. You get pretty decent benefits for an established aviation industry company. Job security is also good, especially since travel is picking up.
Cons: Work flexibility here is pretty tough. As an Operations Coordinator, there aren't many hybrid options, it's mostly onsite work. Trying to get remote work approved for any ground staff role feels impossible, even for administrative tasks. The schedules are pretty rigid.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more hybrid options for roles that don't absolutely need to be onsite. Giving more remote work flexibility would really help morale for Hong Kong-based employees.

Decent perks, but base pay could be better
Pros: The flight benefits are definitely a major plus. You can't beat the travel perks in the airline industry. It's great for family too. The company culture in the Hong Kong office is pretty strong. There's a good sense of camaraderie among the Operations Coordinators.
Cons: The base salary for an Operations Coordinator isn't great, honestly. It's hard to make ends meet in Hong Kong sometimes. Raises are pretty minimal year-to-year. Don't expect huge pay jumps.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving the compensation structure for entry and mid-level corporate roles. The flight benefits are good, but a living wage is essential for staff in the Hong Kong office.
