Pay is solid, benefits are okay here
Pros: I've gotta say, the base salary for my Manufacturing Engineer position was pretty competitive for this kind of industrial sealing work. In the Fort Wayne, Indiana plant, we got a decent 401k match, which is always good. It's a stable, corporate environment with regular pay raises.
Cons: However, the health insurance premiums felt pretty high, honestly. For an onsite role in rubber manufacturing, I expected better coverage options without such high out-of-pocket costs. There's not much in the way of performance bonuses for technical roles, either.
Advice to Management: Look into lowering health insurance costs for employees. It'd make a big difference in overall compensation satisfaction.

Pay is okay, benefits are solid for manufacturing
Pros: As a Process Engineer in industrial manufacturing, I've found the benefits package here is pretty decent. The 401k match is solid, and the health insurance premiums aren't too bad, which is a big plus for an onsite role.
Cons: However, the base salary for similar Process Engineer roles in the Fort Wayne area could be better. There isn't much room for salary negotiation when you start, which is a bummer. Merit increases are also pretty small year to year.
Advice to Management: Look at competitive salaries for Process Engineer roles in the Midwest region. Better pay would help retain talent in this corporate environment.

Stable role in industrial manufacturing
Pros: Job security is a big win here, especially for Manufacturing Engineer roles. Trelleborg is a large, established player in industrial manufacturing, so it feels really stable. The benefits package, including health, is pretty solid.
Cons: But career growth can be super slow; it's tough to move up. There's not much work flexibility, it's mostly onsite in the Fort Wayne, Indiana office. Getting new sealing technology projects can be rare for junior engineers.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer paths for career development and promoting from within. Some flexibility options would really help employee morale.

Decent stability, slow on career growth
Pros: Job security for roles like mine, especially in the Fort Wayne, IN plant, is solid. It's a big, established corporate place, so the benefits package is decent. You know what you're getting.
Cons: Career growth is really tough. There just aren't many opportunities for moving up, even for experienced engineers in the sealing solutions industry. You can feel stuck for a long time.
Advice to Management: Leadership should focus on clearer development plans. People want to see a path forward, especially in technical roles like engineering. It'd boost morale.

Solid place, but watch the clock.
Pros: The job security for an engineer here is pretty solid. We get to work on some cool sealing technology projects, which is engaging. It's a big, established corporate structure, so things are usually stable.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough as a Manufacturing Engineer in our Fort Wayne, Indiana office. Expect to put in more than 40 hours some weeks, especially with production deadlines. Remote work isn't really an option here, it's strictly onsite.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project loads and provide more support to reduce overtime. Recognizing employee effort beyond just demanding more would help a lot.

Good Benefits, But Pay Growth Lags
Pros: The health benefits are actually pretty solid for this large corporate company. They've got a decent 401k match too, which helps. For an onsite Manufacturing Engineer role, that's a real plus.
Cons: Pay here can be tough, especially if you're looking for quick raises. My salary as a Manufacturing Engineer didn't really move much, even with good performance. It's not the best in the industrial components industry.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at salary bands for roles like Manufacturing Engineer. You're losing good talent in the sealing technology sector because of stagnant pay.

Work-life balance is decent for engineers
Pros: The core hours are mostly respected, which is good. For engineering roles, you usually get your 40 hour weeks done without too much weekend work. The teams are solid, and you learn a lot about industrial components and sealing solutions.
Cons: Sometimes there are big project pushes where you can't avoid staying late. There's not much work flexibility; it's mostly an onsite role. Vacation approval can be a bit slow at times too, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Try to improve the process for approving time off. More transparency on project timelines would also help reduce last-minute crunch.

Stable, but slow-paced for engineers
Pros: Job security is a real strong suit here, especially as a Manufacturing Engineer. It's a global manufacturer of industrial sealing solutions, so there's steady demand. You won't often worry about sudden layoffs, which is a big plus.
Cons: Career advancement isn't super fast for technical roles in the Fort Wayne, Indiana plant. The corporate environment can feel a bit stagnant at times. Innovation moves slowly, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to speed up innovation. Give employees more chances for internal promotion and new challenges within the industrial sealing solutions space.

Decent Flexibility for Technical Roles
Pros: I've found some decent flexibility as an Applications Engineer here. The Fort Wayne office has a pretty good hybrid model, letting us WFH a couple days a week if projects allow. It's helpful for balancing life outside work in the industrial applications sector.
Cons: It's not perfect though. Core hours are pretty strict, so spontaneous changes can be tough. For some sealing solutions projects, you're always onsite, limiting true WFH options. Managers sometimes push back on adjusting schedules, even for valid reasons.
Advice to Management: Try to empower managers to offer more flexible scheduling without so much red tape. Understand that a "hybrid model" isn't a one-size-fits-all for every technical role. Consider more true remote options for tasks that don't require an onsite presence.

Work-life balance is tough in manufacturing here
Pros: The team in the Fort Wayne office is really supportive, which helps when things get hectic. They have decent benefits, and I did learn a lot about industrial components and sealing solutions manufacturing. Sometimes you get to work from home.
Cons: As a Process Engineer, you're expected to be available a lot, sometimes even on weekends for urgent issues. It's tough to stick to a 40-hour week. Management doesn't always see the impact of constant overtime on personal life.
Advice to Management: Management needs to really look at workload distribution, especially for Process Engineer roles. Burnout is real when you're always on call for sealing solutions manufacturing lines. Empower teams to say no to unreasonable demands.
