Pros: Working at ByteDance really pushes you. As a Software Engineer, I quickly learned new AI technologies and scaled systems. The projects are exciting in the social media industry.
Cons: But, your career path isn't always clear-cut. You have to fight for visibility on new projects. It's tough sometimes in the Mountain View office with the competition.
Advice to Management: Make promotion criteria clearer for all engineering roles. Encourage better internal communication on growth opportunities.

Pros: Base salary for a Software Engineer here is really strong, definitely on the higher end for big tech in Mountain View. The annual bonuses can be good too, often tied to team performance in social media tech. Health insurance is solid, no complaints there.
Cons: The 401k match isn't amazing, it's pretty standard, not industry-leading. PTO accrual feels a bit slow when you're used to other global companies. Some of the fringe benefits could be better, like fewer perks than I've seen elsewhere.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the 401k match to be more competitive with other top tech companies. Also, consider more generous PTO policies, especially for long-term employees. It'd really help with retention.

Pros: As a Software Engineer at ByteDance, the base salary is really competitive. It's definitely solid compared to other big tech companies in Silicon Valley. The 401k match is also pretty good.
Cons: The health benefits package isn't as great as some other places. There's also not much transparency around bonus structures for technical roles. PTO isn't super generous either.
Advice to Management: Revisit the health benefits package and make bonus calculations more transparent for all employees. Offer more generous PTO.
