Stable work in maritime tech
Pros: The job security for technical support roles, especially in the maritime software space, is quite good. I've felt pretty secure in my position since starting here. Working remote from the UK also gives me great flexibility, which is a big plus.
Cons: Career growth isn't always the clearest path forward for a Technical Support Specialist. It can feel like you're stuck in a bit of a rut sometimes. Pay bumps aren't super frequent or large, mostly just cost of living.
Advice to Management: Try to create more defined career progression plans for long-term employees, especially within the technical support team. It would help with motivation.

Okay balance, but some busy times
Pros: I've worked as a Software Engineer remotely from the UK for a couple years. The remote work setup is solid, offering decent flexibility most days. It's good to work on maritime technology without a long commute.
Cons: Sometimes the deadlines for new shipping industry software features can be really tight. That means some weeks you're pulling extra hours. Work-life balance here isn't always consistent, especially for development roles.
Advice to Management: Try to plan projects with more realistic timelines to avoid last-minute sprints. It helps prevent burnout among development teams.

Leadership has some bright spots, some misses
Pros: I liked being remote from the UK; it's great for work flexibility. As a Software Engineer, the projects in maritime tech are genuinely unique and challenging. The overall team culture with peers is solid.
Cons: Leadership often feels disconnected from daily operations. They make decisions without much input from us, which is frustrating for developers working on e-learning solutions. There's not enough clear direction for career growth paths.
Advice to Management: Try to involve engineering teams more in strategic decisions. Better communication from leadership could really help morale and project success in our maritime software development.
