Decent pay, but benefits could be better
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here is pretty competitive, especially for a startup in the SaaS industry. They do offer unlimited PTO, which is nice if you actually get to use it.
Cons: Health insurance plans aren't great; the deductibles are pretty high. There's no 401k match, which feels like a miss for a remote tech company. Salary bumps aren't super frequent for remote roles.
Advice to Management: Definitely look into improving the health benefits and adding a 401k match. It's tough to compete for top software development talent in a remote-first model without solid benefits.

Remote Work Balance Can Be Tricky Here
Pros: Working fully remote was great for skipping the commute and managing personal appointments. As a Software Engineer, I did appreciate the freedom to set my own schedule for most tasks. The company also has a solid PTO policy, which is good.
Cons: It's hard to really switch off when you're working from home for a growing tech startup. There were definitely times I felt pressure to be online late or check emails on weekends. The distributed team also means some awkward meeting times across different zones, cutting into personal evenings.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce stricter boundaries around working hours for your fully remote employees. Encourage managers to lead by example and really push disconnecting after hours.

Decent Remote Gig, Career Growth Is What You Make It
Pros: As a remote software engineer here, you get to touch a lot of different projects which is cool. It's a small tech startup, so if you're proactive, you can definitely learn new skills on your own initiative. I've built up my cloud development experience quite a bit.
Cons: There's not much of a formal career ladder, which can be tough when you want to advance. Promotion criteria aren't clear, and there's limited budget for external training or conferences. You're mostly on your own to figure out your next steps.
Advice to Management: Management needs to establish clearer career paths and promotion criteria for all roles, especially for remote employees. Investing more in formal training and mentorship programs would also help boost employee development and retention.
