Decent Base, But Commission Can Be Tough
Pros: The base salary for a Recruitment Consultant in the London office was pretty solid, better than some other mid-sized recruitment firms. They did offer a standard pension plan too, which is always good to have.
Cons: The commission structure itself felt really tough to hit sometimes, especially in the current staffing industry climate. Benefits outside of the basics weren't that great; don't expect much beyond standard.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the commission thresholds to make them more achievable, especially for long-term employees. It'd really help with retention in this competitive recruitment firm environment.

Good Start, But Growth Can Stall
Pros: When I joined as an Associate Recruitment Consultant, the onboarding was pretty thorough. You learn a lot about the headhunting process quickly. The London office had a decent buzz, and I felt supported by my direct team.
Cons: The biggest issue for me was career growth. Opportunities to move up, especially for recruitment roles, seemed pretty limited after the first year. It felt like you had to wait for someone else to leave before you could progress, which was frustrating.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer and more achievable career progression paths for your recruitment consultants beyond the initial associate level. It would help a lot with retention if people could see a future here.

Decent team, but a tough sales culture
Pros: The team in the London office was generally solid. We'd help each other out, which is good for new Recruitment Consultants. There were occasional team outings too, which helped to break up the intense work week.
Cons: It's a very targets-driven company culture. The pressure can be intense, especially in the competitive recruitment industry. You're expected to be always 'on,' which makes work-life balance hard.
Advice to Management: Try to dial back the pressure a bit and focus on employee well-being. A slightly less cutthroat company culture might actually boost morale and retention, especially for junior Recruitment Consultant roles.

Hybrid Work's Okay, But Not Truly Flexible
Pros: The hybrid work model is a definite plus; you get 2 WFH days a week. This really helps cut down on commute time for those of us in the London office. It's a solid benefit for a fast-paced recruitment firm.
Cons: Sometimes the WFH days feel restricted by team meetings or client calls that need you onsite. For a Recruitment Consultant, true flexibility can be tough when hitting targets. It's not always as easy to just log off early if your work is done, compared to other roles.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider letting teams manage their own WFH schedules more flexibly. Empower consultants to decide when they're most productive, rather than a blanket rule. This would really help with retention in our competitive talent acquisition industry.

Decent place to learn, leadership needs work
Pros: I definitely picked up a lot of skills as a recruitment consultant, especially in talent acquisition. The training for new hires was pretty solid, and I met some great colleagues in the London office.
Cons: Leadership felt inconsistent and there's a definite micro-management vibe, especially around activity targets. It's tough to feel trusted when every move is tracked. Work-life balance can suffer in this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Give your recruitment consultants more autonomy. Focus on results and output, not just constant activity monitoring. Trust your people more and think about their well-being.

Good training, but job security varies
Pros: The training here is pretty solid, especially for new Recruitment Consultants. I learned a ton about the recruitment industry quickly. Plus, when the market is good, the commission structure is decent.
Cons: Job security really depends on market conditions and your targets. When things slow down, like they did for some headhunting roles, there's definitely pressure. Turnover in the London office can feel high sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more support and stability during tougher market conditions. It would help with talent retention across all levels.

Work-Life Balance Is a Challenge Here
Pros: They do offer a hybrid model, which helps a bit with daily commutes. You can sometimes start a bit later if you've been working late. The sales incentives are actually pretty solid if you hit your targets.
Cons: Expect really long hours, especially in the London office. There's constant pressure to perform for recruitment consultant roles. It's tough to fully switch off after work; you're always on call.
Advice to Management: Management should really think about more realistic targets for their recruitment consultants. Burnout is a real issue. Encourage actual breaks and set clear boundaries for after-hours contact.
