Solid Base Pay, But Not Much Else
Pros: The starting salary for an Associate Merchandiser in the New York City office was actually pretty decent, competitive for the fashion industry. They do offer a 401k match which is a solid perk. It's a big corporate structure, so you know what to expect.
Cons: Annual raises were usually pretty small, making it tough to feel valued over time. The health insurance felt expensive for what it offered, and there wasn't much flexibility in benefit choices. You really had to negotiate hard to get a fair pay bump.
Advice to Management: Management needs to seriously re-evaluate compensation strategies, especially salary raises and the cost/coverage of health benefits. Making the benefits package more attractive would really help with retention.

Hybrid Model Needs More Flexibility for Staff
Pros: Some teams in the New York City office do have a pretty decent hybrid model. As a Marketing Specialist, I appreciated a couple of WFH days a week initially. It's a big corporate environment, so some structure is expected.
Cons: The work flexibility here isn't great, honestly. They're trying to push people back to the office more often, even when it's not always necessary for our marketing work. It can make work-life balance a real challenge when you have a long commute.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the hybrid model. Trust your employees more to get the work done remotely, especially for roles like mine in marketing where much can be done offsite. True flexibility would boost morale and productivity.

Leadership at Tapestry needs some work
Pros: Some senior leaders are really smart and give you a lot of autonomy as a Marketing Manager. The environment in the luxury fashion industry is exciting, and my team was supportive.
Cons: Overall, leadership communication is pretty poor. There's a lot of churn in management, which makes it tough to get consistent direction or feel secure in your projects. Decisions often change quickly, making it hard to plan.
Advice to Management: Focus on stable leadership and clearer communication. Employees need a consistent vision to work towards.

Hybrid Model, But Flexibility Varies Greatly
Pros: It's a big player in the luxury fashion industry, which looks good on a resume. The hybrid work model is a perk, giving you some time in the NYC office and some WFH.
Cons: True work flexibility is hit or miss. Even with a hybrid policy, some managers expect you onsite more, making it hard to plan your week. It doesn't always feel like a consistent company-wide benefit.
Advice to Management: Make the hybrid policy truly consistent across all teams and departments. Empower employees to actually use their WFH days without guilt or pushback from managers.

Leadership has its moments at Tapestry
Pros: The hybrid work model in the New York City office is a big plus, offers decent work flexibility. As an Associate Marketing Manager, I got solid training and a supportive direct manager, which helps in a big corporate setting.
Cons: Upper leadership sometimes feels out of touch with actual retail operations. Decision-making for luxury fashion initiatives can be super slow, which is frustrating. Communication from the top about company direction often isn't clear enough.
Advice to Management: Upper leadership needs to engage more with teams on the ground and improve communication on strategic direction. Faster decision-making would really help our brand management efforts.
