RESPONSIBILITIES

This role within commissioning is responsible for working across and delivering independent and in-house commissions for Chinese (primary) and English (secondary) unscripted content.

This role is important to delivering our strategy, working with both In-House Studio and the External Production Houses to commission content based on a deep understanding of audience needs. The ability to commission across platforms as we move to an ever-digital world will be critical in the way audiences experience what Mediacorp has to offer.

You'll ensure that priorities and editorial strategy are aligned, also inspire and engage in-house and independent producers by articulating your editorial priorities, and work with them to create and develop ideas that meet our audiences' needs. Your commissions have to demonstrate value for money, quality and originality. Commissioned programmes have to be compliant with existing codes and guidelines, delivered within timeline and budget considerations that you are accountable for.

Main Responsibilities – Acquisition and Editorial (books and journal projects)

• To acquire book/journal projects, through emails, attending conferences, meetings etc., from authors hailing from reputed institutions in Singapore and worldwide (via emails, phone calls or online meetings). The candidate must have a flair towards meeting authors at local events such as conferences, seminars and workshops. Sufficient guidance will be provided in this regard. The candidate must possess good communication skills in order to establish rapport with potential authors.
• To plan and implement strategies in acquiring new book/journal projects based on the focus areas identified by the Management. Guidance will be provided by the Publishing Director and Subject Leaders.
• To be able to work effectively on both books and journals and be accepting and willing to work on initiatives as and when they are implemented by the Management.
• To learn the process of planning, controlling, and carrying out the editorial functions and coordinate all necessary actions which occur at any stage prior to receipt of a manuscript through finished product under the general guidance of the Publishing Director and Subject Leaders. The candidate must be able to project manage production of book by coordinating with authors, typesetters, designers, colleagues from other departments as required.
• To carry out duties on contractual matters including clearing of copyrighted materials, foreign rights, etc., as directed by the Senior Editor or Subject Head.

Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread a wide variety of content, including articles, reports, blog posts, press releases, social media captions, and email newsletters, ensuring that all content is accurate, engaging, and free of errors.
• Keep abreast of the latest trends, news, and developments in the digital assets space, and offer strategic insights to help shape our content strategy accordingly.
• Work closely with SEO and marketing specialists to optimize content for search engines, increase organic traffic, and drive user engagement.
• Establish relationships with key industry influencers, thought leaders, and media outlets, leveraging their expertise and reach to enhance our content's credibility and reach.
• Monitor the performance of published content using data analytics tools, and provide insights and recommendations to improve future content initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements related to the digital assets and content publishing.
• Those who can deliver a creative narrative will be strongly preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
• 4-5 years of experience in content creation and writing, with a strong focus on the finance/digital assets industries.
• Experience across PR, Marketing, Communications, etc would be a plus.
• Proven track record of managing medium-to-large global teams and implementing successful content strategies.
• Expertise in SEO best practices and content analytics tools to drive engagement and improve content performance.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an outstanding ability to adapt your writing style to different audiences and platforms.
• Ability to craft creative narratives for all types of content.
• Strong understanding of the digital assets industry, including key players, trends, technologies, and regulatory environment.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, in addition to being an expert problem-solver.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
