As a Supervisor, you will play a key part in looking after the team, ensuring that our monthly and other reporting deadlines are met. This also involve completing the detailed month end postings, preparation of accounting schedules, performing bank reconciliations and so forth. Key responsibilities:

• End to end month-end accounts closing and preparation of monthly management reports complete with supporting notes and schedules;
• Management of the year end audit process including preparation of financial statements in accordance to FRS, provision of workings, schedules and supporting documents on request;
• Payment processing and assist with cash flow reporting;
• Reconciliation of GST transactions and balances, if required and completion of return for quarterly filing;
• Preparation and update the Corporate Tax computation monthly and attending to queries and requests from the Tax Agent;
• Provision of proactive and insightful financial support to managers, Head of Finance;
• Completion of any other relevant regulatory returns;
• Driving process improvement and efficiencies across all of the finance activities;
• Liaising with various stakeholders both internally and externally;

M- Th 4:00PM-12:30AM or until completion;

Friday 3:00PM -11:30PM or until completion

At least 2 Sundays a month 5:00AM-1:30PM or until completion (off on Wednesday when working Sunday)

Overview:

Directs the daily workflow of an assigned unit of Treasury Operations.  Manages typically between 8 - 15 employees (or with slightly fewer employees if covering diverse disciplines and/or complex functions) and exercises supervisory authority over staff responsible for executing a specific component of the work of the unit.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily workflow of a unit within Treasury Operations to meet the objectives of the assigned department.  Serve as subject matter expert on procedures, policy and operations and/or represent work group on Department and Bank-wide projects, as needed.
• Resolve complex problems, either directly or through subordinate staff.
• Provide leadership, guidance, feedback and training to staff.
• Communicate and enforce operational and procedural changes within assigned unit to ensure compliance with Bank and Division policy, investor regulations and/or regulations pertaining to the work of the Department.
• Participate in or facilitate process innovation and special projects as assigned by Division management.
• Monitor activities of assigned staff to ensure all organizational and departmental policy and procedures and external regulations are followed to minimize risks to the Bank from non-compliance.
• Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position is the first level of management within Treasury Operations.  The position works under minimal supervision and must use independent judgment and discretion in daily supervision of the assigned unit.  Depending on the unit managed the position may require unique technical expertise due to the complexity, size and/or breadth of functions.

Education and Experience Required:

A combined total of 5 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience in a call center or bank operations environment, inclusive of work leadership experience

Excellent customer service skills with ability to use tact and diplomacy

Strong knowledge of relevant spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum of 2 years’ work leadership experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong knowledge of departmental systems, documents and procedures
