An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Director of Legal (Monitoring Officer) to join a local authority, based in Lincolnshire, for a period of 4-6 months. This hybrid business model requires a candidate with monitoring officer experience, who can ensure that the council meets its legal and statutory obligations as set out in the Localism Act 2011, Local Government & Housing Act 1989, as amended by Local Government Act 2000.

Key Responsibilities

• Discharging the Monitoring Officer functions set out in the Localism Act 2011, the Local Government Act 2000, the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 and elsewhere.
• Providing high quality legal advice to the Council, Chief Officers and Elected Members to underpin effective decision making, meet statutory requirements and ensure good general practice.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in risk management, corporate governance, safety/security, and/or policy development/management strongly preferred;

This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate across all areas of Morningstar|Sustainalytics and to work with the Client Relations team globally to grow our market presence.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leading business development strategy for Belgium and Luxembourg Markets

• Build profound relationships with all stakeholders at our clients, prospects and industry leaders

• Represent the company at industry events and conferences;

• Grow and maintain a robust sales pipeline by:

  • Show ownership and create, identify and successfully close commercial opportunities

  • Lead the coordination and response for proposals (RFPs) for the region

  • Act as a trusted advisor to institutional & retail investors, banks and insurance companies on Responsible Investment strategies and incorporate our products and services;

  • Stay on top of market developments, identify and share product innovation opportunities.

• Demonstrated passion for business success including building relationships with all stakeholders across the business;

• 4+ years experience in Business Development or financial services;

Reporting to the Director, Assistant General Counsel of the Privacy Team, the Director, Privacy Corporate Counsel will be the lead privacy attorney for DaVita’s Integrated Kidney Care (DaVita IKC or Village Health) division. The attorney will support the day-to-day activities of the IKC business teams, by providing legal review, guidance and partnership on a range of projects and initiatives.  This role will also play a vital part in supporting the Privacy & Cybersecurity Legal Lane function within the DaVita Privacy Office. The Privacy & Cybersecurity Legal Lane is responsible for providing legal privacy guidance to all areas of the DaVita business; ensuring company privacy compliance; tracking, monitoring and implementation of all new privacy regulations; and providing support on various other Privacy Office and company initiatives.

The DaVita in-house team is known as the “Justice League” or “JLD.” The JLD is comprised of over 280 attorneys, paralegals, and legal professionals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Director, Corporate Counsel:

• Act as the lead privacy attorney for DaVita’s subsidiary, Village Health (IKC)
• Provide thorough legal analysis and guidance to various IKC business teams on day-to-day business operations, as well as long term business goals and initiatives
• Act as a strategic thought partner with IKC business leadership to understand business goals, and help achieve those business needs in a privacy compliant manner
• Assist and collaborate with other DaVita attorneys, compliance teammates, and business leaders in identifying and resolving legal matters arising from the DaVita IKC business
• Provide privacy review, guidance and occasional negotiation on contracts and business associate agreements
• Act as a key contributor on Privacy & Cybersecurity Legal Lane initiatives and projects
• Program and process improvement
• Assist in leading Privacy & Cybersecurity Legal Lane projects
• Work closely with other Privacy attorneys to provide and coordinate legal guidance needed to operationalize important initiatives and requirements
• Travel required:  Minimal (approximately 5%)

Experience & Education:

• Juris Doctorate
• At least 5+ years of legal experience is required
• At least 3 years of experience in privacy is required
• A CIPP or CIPM certification is preferable
• Experience advising business leaders in legal matters is required
• Experience in health care is desired
• Experience in healthcare relating to compliance with state and federal privacy laws, e.g. HIPAA, HITECH, state breach notification laws, etc. is a plus
• Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated attention to detail
• Solid technology skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to quickly determine issues that need escalation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentations) and the ability to drive execution in a team environment

$110,100.00 - $161,700.00 / year
