Role Responsibilities

TTO and Group Functions is a $6bn+ combined cost base organisation that provides technology, operations and corporate function services for the bank.

This role will support the CFO of TTO and Functions in accelerating cost opportunities and enhancing cost management and effectiveness of the respective functions in support of the Group’s overall cost agenda.

The successful candidate will be a trusted partner to the CFO, TTO and Function and work hand in hand with the finance organization and respective leaders within each of the functional areas, to drive cost transformation.

Responsibilities

Strategy

· Provide thought leadership and insightful analysis, highlighting trends, outliers and areas of optimization across the cost portfolio.

· Facilitate workshops to identify, quantify and solicit buy-in on cross functional opportunities, delivering a one-bank approach.

· Deliver robust competitor benchmarking & peer analysis to understand our performance against market and influence strategies to optimize our cost base.

· Drive the creation of strategic plans and sustainable saves initiatives including development of business case and assessment of impact to P&L, benefits quantification in sufficient detail to enable effective benefits tracking and realization.

Business

· Champion the Cost Transformation agenda by spearheading key initiatives at a bank level to drive simplification, centralization and standardization activities in TTO and Functions.

· Provide independent challenge and drive management actions at senior level to deliver targeted outcomes.

· Define and facilitate a robust funding governance process to support bank wide prioritisation to determine how best to allocate finite resources to drive the greatest return at bank level.

· Develop a standardized finance tool kits to enable robust costing and business case quantification to support management decision making.

· Introduce and implement new controls and process changes required to support the Cost Transformation initiative.

Processes

· Work in close collaboration with the finance and COO teams on overall management of the cost portfolio as part of the wider performance management framework. Provide added support across finance activities relating to cost management and optimization of the Functions and TTO cost base.

· Define relevant KPIs and drive regular performance reviews to track progress on delivery of cost initiatives across the portfolio.

· Conceptualize and deliver high impact, executive-ready presentations to support the financial narrative of cost initiatives for engagement across the Group.

· Define clear and consistent methodologies for categorizing and measuring cost-saving initiatives including but not limited to establishing a centralised repository or platform to capture relevant data and documentation.

· Conduct regular review and refinement of the policy as well as standardization, and consistent application of these standards.

· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and management reporting and policies

Responsibilities

• Reports to the EPC Regional Cost Management Lead with reporting structure to a SWAT Team Lead
• This position requires a senior level of understanding of cost management, commercial issues, Datacenter Construction, Project Management, Telecommunications, and Mission Critical Operations.
• Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions.
• Development of corrective action reports to best understand and communicate project recovery.

Deep understanding of the commercial management of the General Contractor (GC) from liaison with our procurement office on the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents through to the final payments and agreement of the final accounts and paperwork. This will also include :

• Detailed estimation of the project based on local design documents.
• Agreement of estimates with the GC at during design development and agreement of the contract sum.
• Pay application assessment and approval for the GC, all equipment vendors and all project support consultants.
• Estimation of and commercial agreement of all change orders.
• Draft commercial detail and supporting documents for all funding requests.
• Review and agreement of all GC procurement of the subcontract packages including the approval of the sub contract Letters of Authorization (LOAs).
• Commercial review of all disputes that may arise.

Commercial management of all other program vendors including:

• Presenting proposals to head office for purchase order approval.
• Approving invoices for all project vendors.
• Final account agreement & closeout for all vendor accounts.
• Manage the Cost Management firm contracted to provide commercial support in the region.
• Assist in the procurement of Cost Management firm.
• Manage the resources allocated to the projects to ensure that they are appropriate in number and quality.
• Regular Monthly Business Updates (MBUs) with the cost management firms.
• Cost Reporting: Work with the Cost management firm, GC and project controls to ensure that the full suite of cost reports are available for review by Redmond on a monthly basis.
• Provide the PER (funding) team all commercial support necessary to ascertain the required timing of the funding intervals and all commercial information needed to back up these funding requests to management. This will normally involve the production of multiple option cost scenarios.
• Design Team commercial support: From project kick-off through to final design provide commercial support on business cases, value engineering studies and change control as the design evolves though to final decision.
• Site selection support: Work with our site selection team in the region to provide constructability reports and site specific comparative estimates on candidate sites. Also provide all funding and Purchase Order (PO) support necessary for this team to perform in the region.
• Commercial Process control: Review the current commercial processes in the region and develop these into a commercial playbook. On agreement of this playbook the candidate shall be responsible for the consistent implementation of same.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction management, Project Controls, Quantity Surveying or related field AND 12+ years of related experience
• 12+ years of experience managing the estimating or commercials on a major construction portfolio
• Proven experience of the commercial management role in the procurement of GC contracts and other construction vendors

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. The regional Strategic Finance Partner - Deputy Lead is responsible to the Strategic Finance Partner Lead and will assist them with the oversight of financial planning and management of the Trusts schools. You will be supporting a portfolio of the Trust’s Northern based schools, which involves a combination of working on site at the relevant school, working from home and travel to head office for meetings so a full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.

Lead Finance Planning & Reporting Analyst

£40,000 to £47,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)

Manchester city centre (hybrid working)

We're looking for a Lead Finance Planning & Reporting Analyst to join our central food financial planning and analysis team in Manchester. We'll look to you to pull together the data of the overall food performance story, looking back and into the future. You'll gather insights and spot trends to support future thinking and to build strong relationships with our finance partners to help with overall delivery. In this role you'll work in a hybrid way - spending at least one day per week working from the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

What you'll do

• Work closely with our FPAR leads to deliver detailed and accurate reports and financial plans
• Provide variance analysis and insight across a variety of business areas and projects
• Make sure any risks and opportunities are identified and considered in future forecasts and present any financial impacts they might have
• Be on the look-out for new analysis techniques and methodologies to improve the value of the insights we provide
• Understand our current performance for our food operations board
• Build data models to create a forecast and provide analysis

This role would suit people who have

• Experience working in an analysis, insight, or financial reporting team with a solid understanding of analytical methods, practices, and techniques
• Strong IT skills (including Microsoft Excel and database applications)
• Good communication and prioritisation skills, with the ability to present financial information to a non-finance audience
• Good relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and challenge people inclusively

• Assisting in month-end closing activities related to product costing.

Job Responsibility

• Monitor and ensure compliance of finance and accounting operations and taxation in accordance with accounting standards and tax laws.
