You will have experience in sub-editing and production in a way that best suits each platform. The role may involve morning, afternoon and evening hours as well as some weekend work, and can be full-time or part-time. Experience in digital production would be an advantage.

Day to day you will:

• Edit, produce and publish stories for each platform, be it digital, print, blogs, or newsletters
• Produce stories for afr.com and other channels, including finding photos,    graphics, videos, and social media assets
• Write and check headlines, captions and write-offs
• Proofread
• Work with reporters to edit and rewrite copy to the highest standards
• Communicate with reporters, editors and other production staff

The Assistant Editor conceptualizes, produces, and edits high-quality content for ONCOLOGY, a peer-reviewed medical journal, as well as its monthly print supplements. The individual in this role will also contribute to concept development as well as writing, editing, proofing, and other operational and editorial tasks for CancerNetwork.com.

Responsibilities:

• Produce compelling SEO content in the form of written articles, podcasts, and short video snippets for CancerNetwork.com, as well as write articles to appear in ONCOLOGY print supplements.
• Conduct both live and virtual interviews with oncology experts on top trends in the field, breaking news, conference coverage, and more.
• Proofread and edit articles for compliance with policies, style, and tone.
• Regularly collaborate with the editors in chief, editorial board, and audience development to assist with editorial strategy of content for the monthly ONCOLOGY journal.
• Be a part of the print production process for the monthly ONCOLOGY journal and its print supplement(s) and work with copyeditors and designers to execute print product.
• Conduct administrative work to assist with journal process, including double-blind peer review and PubMed indexing.
• Travel (~10%) to attend professional conferences and live events.
   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences communications, medical journalism, or a related field
• 1+ years of progressive professional experience and/or relevant medical background with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• An understanding of the oncology discipline, as well as American Medical Association style, a plus.
• Ability to translate industry understanding into relevant, practical content geared toward professional physician audience.

The Editor conceptualizes, plans, assigns, manages, and edits high quality content for Oncology Nursing News, in a digital and print role. This position is intended for an individual who excels at multi-tasking, and is deadline driven with top-notch writing and editing skills. This position requires an individual to have versatile creativity – whether it be to initiate a diverse social media plan or writing feature pieces and clinically-driven pieces. The position will help grow the Oncology Nursing News team’s digital space, which includes the generation of daily content for web, written or video. Additional responsibilities may include gathering content and proofreading email newsletters; interviewing oncology providers; and coordinating content with freelancers/contributors for print. Travel is required. Publishing and CMS experience preferred, and familiarity with medical/oncology terminology and AMA style. The individual for this position will also participate in data analysis and the development of recommendations from that data, and will help to facilitate the execution of chosen tactics.

Responsibilities:

• Work with editorial leads and marketing on social media strategies, and conduct daily posts, listening and reporting
• Proactively update content on the website for SEO and campaign optimization to meet key performance metrics
• Drive community engagement, stimulate discussion and advocate for the brand
• Develop, write and distribute e-newsletters. Measure and report on performance of campaigns against goals and optimize for future deployments
• Collaborate with internal team on user experience across multiple channels and provide recommendations to improve technology and design

The Associate Editor works with the editorial team to fill content for Pharmacy Times’ website and publications. The Associate Editor pitches story ideas, creates and maintains relationships with organizations, and assists with managing long-term projects. Some travel is required to attend meetings throughout the year. There will also be some opportunities to work with the Managing Editor on growing Pharmacy Times Oncology Edition and Pharmacy Times Health Systems Edition and soliciting research for peer review.

This position is ideal for someone with previous working experience or extensive internship experience who would like to expand their responsibilities and improve their skills. Duties include but are not limited to: conducting and editing video interviews and podcasts; writing and editing compelling digital content; and assisting with executing special projects.

• Produce the Cyber Defense Review (CDR) journal, both online and hard copy, from creation to finish, coordinating with subject matter experts, contributors, representatives of other agencies, and internal staff.
• Advise authors on regulatory requirements outlined in Army regulations and journal-specific requirements.
• Ensure all publications meet West Point Press (WPP) standards and that contents conform to the rules of grammar and format and style requirements.
• Serve as the point of contact on all matters pertaining to journal editing functions within the WPP.
• Coordinate publication activities with printers, contractors, vendors, management, staff, and program personnel.
• Use social media and other avenues to solicit articles for publication.
• Initiate and execute administrative tasks, including composing correspondence; conducting interviews; coordinating with authors or information sources; obtaining copyright releases, biographical data, and official clearances.
• Ensure that all administrative and editorial requirements have been met to produce a printer-ready package.
• Advise authors regarding required edits and rewrites of submitted articles covering a variety of complicated cyber-specific subjects.
• Facilitate the blind review process of manuscripts, and recruit reviewers for peer-review evaluations.
• Prepare masthead and table of contents, source notes, and bibliographies based on information from authors.
• Perform as the liaison between authors and layout and design contractor during the proof stage of publication.
