Education and experience requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in simulation development and/or system integration.

Technical skills:

• Strong proficiency in a wide range of programming languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript, and C++.
• Proficiency in high-performance communication technology (e.g., gRPC, MPI, ZeroMQ)
• Proficiency in simulation software and tools (e.g., SimPy, MASON, Repast, Simulink, AnyLogic, SUMO).
• Familiarity with simulation integration standards and frameworks (e.g., HELICS, HLA, DIS)
• Familiarity with model pipelining tools (e.g., Airflow, MLflow, Argo).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

The research activities involve (but not limited to):

• Operating a wide variety of instruments, data retrieval
• Laboratory chemical analyses and speciation
• Modeling chemical reactions of airborne pollutants
• Assisting and contributing to project deliverables, including,
• Planning and conduct experiments, data analyses, progress reporting, report writing, etc.

Qualifications

One or more of (but not limited to) the following:

• Fast learner capable of conducting independent research and proficient literature search, review & summary with strong background in chemical engineering / chemistry / physics
• Sufficient experiences in applying Pythons functions of matplotlib, and numPy, pandas, statsmodels, etc
• Modeling chemical reactions of airborne pollutants through implicit modules
• Experiences of applying machine learning to handle big data
• Experiences of laboratory chemical analyses using chromatography, such as GC-MS-MS, LC-MS-MS, etc
• Experiences of operating instruments measuring physical properties of aerosols
• Experiences in conducting field studies of aerosol and VOC sampling using various instruments

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing (SoC). SoC is strongly committed to research excellence in all its dimensions: Searching for fundamental results and insights in developing novel computational solutions to a wide range of applications, building largescale experimental systems, developing theories and policies for effective management of information systems in organizations, and improving the well-being of society. We seek to play an active role both internationally and locally in the core and emerging areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.

The Research Fellow will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator on one or more research projects.

(“Research fellow” is similar to “post-doctoral researcher”, in the terminology of some other countries.) The appointee is expected to work closely with Associate Prof. YU Haifeng (http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~yuhf) on issues related to distributed systems security and distributed computing. A key goal of the research will be to produce high-impact academic publications in premier conferences (such as CCS and SP) and journals in the area.
