RPS are seeking a Principal Health, Safety & Fire Consultant to join the Health, Safety and Risk division. You will undertake a wide range of differing health and safety risk assessments and high-level fire risk assessments. This includes working with our commercial, residential, industrial and retail clients and will require regional and UK wide travel as appropriate. Responsible for taking the lead in client specific projects and client management.

What you’ll be doing:
Preparing fire, health and safety risk assessments in accordance with legislative requirements.
Provide robust fire, health and safety advice to clients with high level advocacy whilst delivering of the ‘RPS Way’.
Develop emergency plans and evacuation plans (including specific tenant plans).
Deliver on client specific projects and competent person roles.
Develop retrospective fire strategy reports for residential and student accommodation buildings.
Provide corporate management advice, gap analysis reports and fire and health and safety management systems.
Participate in team huddles, provide direction, and mentorship to other consultants.
Support Technical Director in department projects.
Complete technical reviews of consultant fire, health and safety risk assessments.
Keep up to date with current legislation and advise clients on compliance requirements.
Identify and discuss solutions to health, safety and fire related problems.
Respond to technical concerns and problems, ensure smooth implementation and ongoing client support.
Resolve any problems in a timely manner.
Maintain own professional CPD on a regular basis, open to professional development through external courses and qualifications to serve company in business project direction.
Review international regulations and compliance regulations, complete European health, safety, and fire safety risk assessments as required.
Who we’re looking for:
Excellent literacy skills and technical knowledge of fire, health, and safety legislation for residential commercial, manufacturing and retail sectors.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Familiar with BAFE SP205 Validation process.
Can quickly understand, adapt to, and demonstrate company values.
Demonstrable CPD record.
Member of IFSM or IFE.
Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
Diploma level qualification in health and safety.
CMIOSH or equivalent (or working towards).
Registered on a recognised Fire Consultants’ Register.
Thorough understanding of British Standards relating to fire in the residential sector.
Proficient in practical application of health and safety legislation.
Building regulations Approved Document B, British Standards, relevant fire, health and safety legislation, ACOPS, Approved Documents M and K.
Awareness of CDM 2015 Regulations.
Desirable:
Type 4 Fire Risk Assessment and DSEAR experience desirable.

The selection process is likely to be a two-stage competency and behavioural interview. Initial interview via MS Teams and then if successful followed by an interview at the office.
