About your new team:
Equality Disability and Health Care Services (EDHCS) is a disability services provider in Sydney’s Northern Beaches which operates all over Sydney. Our aim is to promote the wellbeing of the local community by providing a broad variety of mental health and disability services. Our services include personal care, daily living support, capacity building for people with disability and SIL support.
At Equality Disability and Health Care Services, our main objective is to help participants achieve their everyday goals by allowing them to live their life as autonomously as possible. These goals can be anything from becoming more independent, getting or keeping a job to learn new skills, enrolling in education, becoming more active in the community, or improving relationships and making friends. We have a highly trained and dedicated team with more than 20 years’ experience.
Services include:
Developing strong trust-based relationships with participants and delivering person centred care and support
Supporting participants to meet their daily living and lifestyle requirements as per their care plan, including personal care and working with customers with complex and/or challenging needs
Providing support at home with health issues and daily tasks of living such as washing, dressing, grooming, eating, shopping and transport
Provide aid in the promotion of a participant’s mental and physical activities such as through communication and engagement, going out, reading and writing, hobbies and recreation
Maintaining a clean, comfortable, safe and secure environment for participants which may include undertaking light domestic duties or meal preparation
Key responsibilities:
Providing companionship to build confidence and social skills
Provide aid in the promotion of a participant’s mental and physical activities such as through communication and engagement, going out, reading and writing, hobbies and recreation
Supporting clients with assistance in coordinating/ managing life stages & transitions such as short and long-term supports that focus on strengthening the participant’s ability to coordinate their supports, and to assist them to live at home and participate in their community
Preparing/assisting with meal preparation
Assisting clients at their work
Assisting other health professionals like occupational therapists, speech pathologists, nurses, doctors and emergency response staff with client compliance
Assisting other health professionals with physical activities like hydro therapy, music therapy or recovery therapy
Supervising medication intake from a webster packs.
Assistance with laundry
Transporting participants to appointments
Assisting clients with essential money management skills like saving money for essential bills and grocery shopping
Developing strong trust-based relationships with participants and delivering person centred care and support
Assistance with shopping
Maintaining a clean, comfortable, safe and secure environment for participants which may include undertaking light domestic duties or meal preparation
Waking clients and assisting them with personal care such as showering, dressing, feeding and help getting ready for educational and recreational activities.
Criteria:
Previous experience in disability support work
Current National Police Records Check, Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check (willingness to obtain)
Flexible availability
Certificate III or IV in individual support, aged care or disability or an Allied Health qualification
Car and comprehensive car insurance
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (willingness to obtain)
Experience with challenging behaviour and autism is an advantage
