Job Description

-Draft, review, negotiate a range of contracts for company’s business. 
Legal advisory on compliance matters such as Competition Law, Data Protection, Labor, Consumer Protection, Intellectual Property, Anti-Corruption and Business Ethics. 
-Manage compliance issues, conduct compliance training and other compliance related matters.
-Manage disputes like litigation, arbitration, mediation etc and coordinate with external counsels.
-Identify and analyze legal trends and new legislations which are related to the company's business.
-Support the General Counsel on all other Legal & Compliance related matters.

Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Law and admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
At least 8 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Worked in law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
Excellent communications skills and proficient in English (written and oral). 
Independent at work and is highly motivated.
Excellent interpersonal skills and is resourceful.
Possess commercial acumen.
Working knowledge of litigation (both civil and criminal). Although Counsel will not be expected to attend court (as Advocate), he/she should have good knowledge to advise company and instruct/manage external lawyers.
Experience in handling legal compliance risk issues.

• Able to highlight legal risks/exposures involved, identify possible breaches and non-compliance under applicable laws and regulations as well internal procedures and policies and offer mitigating solutions.

• To liaise with business units and external lawyers in relation to litigation/ consumer’s complaints filed at Consumer Tribunal, and to attend Consumer Tribunal hearing on behalf of the Company.
• To provide legal advisory to the business units.
• Conduct research and advise on legal aspects of corporate transactions to the management or relevant business units.
• Assist in management of Panel of Solicitors to ensure effective legal representation in litigation process, relevant corporate exercise and company projects.
• To manage the Contract Management System to ensure all legal documents/ agreements are properly monitored, organized and registered in the system.
• Support the Legal Managers and business units to minimize and manage legal risks prudently.
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Legal Managers.

Requirements :

• Bachelors of Law degree – LL.B (Hons).
• Minimum 3 year of working experience in the Legal Department of a Bank or Financial Institution. Candidates from legal practice will also be considered.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. 
• Understanding of Islamic Financing scheme would be an added advantage.
• Sound legal knowledge of Malaysian law. Good research and analysis skills.

Job Responsibilities:

1) Provide administrative support to Legal Department, including drafting of correspondence and reports.
2) Assist with file management and organisation, ensuring that documents are properly filed, recorded, indexed, and kept.
3) Coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for legal staff.
4) Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and mail, and ensure timely responses.
5) Assist with invoicing processes, including preparing invoices, tracking payments, and maintaining billing records.
6) Prepare and distribute internal and external communications, memos, and reports as needed.
7) Collaborate with other staff members across the company to ensure the efficient operation of Legal Department.
8) Participate and assist with special projects as and when assigned.

Qualifications:

1) Minimum Diploma in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
2) At least 2 year experience in a legal environment or administrative role is highly desirable.
3) Organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
4) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software applications.
5) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
6) Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
7) Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
8) Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and documentation preferred.
9) Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
