As Deputy/Assistant Digital Strategy Editor, you will play a key role in shaping and curating content across The Straits Times' digital platforms, including the website, mobile app and social media channels. You will work with a broad range of interesting content - from breaking news and exclusive features, to data visualisation and interactive graphics - and explore new ways of telling stories and presenting information.
You will collaborate with teams within and beyond the newsroom, working with colleagues with diverse skill sets - journalists, artists, video editors, data specialists and web developers.
What you will be doing:
- Shape and curate content for The Straits Times website and app. Plan online coverage for key news events
- Improve copy for online, including applying best SEO practices, doing headline testing, enriching text with visual elements, and suggesting content recommendations
- Craft push alerts to readers, and curate newsletters
- Leverage audience analytics to widen the reach of content produced by The Straits Times, use data tools including Chartbeat and Google Analytics
- Shape and drive strategy which aligns with the organisation's business goals
- Work in cross-functional teams. Collaborate with the product and tech teams to improve website/app user experience; work with circulation and marketing teams to drive subscription and content marketing strategies; drive data-informed culture with support from the data team
Are you the right fit?
We are looking for someone who has:
- A Bachelor's degree or above in relevant fields
- At least 5 years of work experience in media/digital news, communications, social media or relevant industry. Candidates with more experience or strong track record will be considered for the Deputy Digital Strategy Editor position.
- Excellent writing and communication skills. Sharp news sense and deep understanding of current affairs and media trends
- Familiarity with analytics tools, strong analytical skills, using data to inform/support decision-making
- Strong ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions at a snap, and multi-task
- Keen learner, willingness to pick up new skill sets
- Good cross-functional collaboration skills
