The role

As a Satellite Communications Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock have been awarded the contract to run and modernise the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet. As part of this programme, we are looking for an experience Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to lead the upgrade of Radio Frequency (RF) and Intermediate Frequency (IF) Systems.

You will work with a team of officers in the Radiation Monitoring and Modelling Branch, under the Radiation Monitoring & Services Division, to perform radiological dispersion modelling to support incident preparedness and response operations, as well as maintain a network of ambient radiation monitoring sensors.

The Role
Civil Enforcement Officer - Bootle - Full Time - 40 hours per week - £25,875.20 per annum

Within this role you will be patrolling public streets, car parks, green spaces, and public parks. You will help to maintain clean neighbourhoods by enforcing the Councils litter provision and Public Space Protection Order by way of issuing fixed penalty notices. The shift pattern varies throughout the week:
08:00-17:00, 09:00-18:00, 11:30-20:30 and you will be required to work 3 out of 4 weekends and some bank holidays.

What will you do?

- You will play an important role in reducing traffic congestion, antisocial behaviour, and environmental crimes.
- You will be expected to issue tickets to vehicles parked in breach of the rules.
- You will keep a detailed log of the violations and debrief incidents that occur during your shift.
- You will Enforce local laws to protect the area from litter, dog fouling, various other breaches of the Environmental act and Sefton’s Public space protection order. You will not have to deal with these issues – but you will however be required to issue tickets/notices.
- You will be walking between 10-15 miles a day in all weathers.

- You will be dealing with members of the public face to face, sometimes in challenging circumstances, so customer service must be something you are confident in and enjoy.
- The skill to connect to different audiences and the ability to work on your own or as part of a team is so important for this role.
- You’ll need to be reliable, self-motivated, and capable of dealing with possibly argumentative people or situations.
- Knowledge of environmental services would be of use but it’s not essential.
- You will need to have the ability to write short factual statements and detailing Evidence for any further prosecution in court / Tribunal.
- PC skills would also be an advantage, as you will be using a handheld device daily.

• Monitor and analyze work conditions and HSE performances for continual improvement and compliances with the relevant legal requirements.
• Liaise with the external agencies on HSE-related regulatory matters.
• Complying with all the responsibilities of a WSH Officer as specified by the Ministry of Manpower in the Workplace Health and Safety Act.
• Coordinate PS Reviews (or product risk assessments) and submit the result to Singapore Chemical Industrial Council (SCIC)
• Investigates workplace incidents and recommends measures to prevent recurrence.
• Assesses relevant HSE legislative changes and initiate necessary changes for compliance.
• Schedule and co-ordinate the Company’s HSEQ Committee meetings, Plant
• Inspection Patrol and Plant Cleanup.
• Ensure that corrective action(s) are taken to eliminate HSE-related hazards.
• Monitor potential HSE hazards (recorded from such patrols) in cases where corrective action(s) require time to implement.
• Promote HSE activities in the Company and In-house contractors.
• Plan, organize and execute 5S activities.
• Participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities.
• Liaise with PS&R (Product Stewardship & Regulatory) PIC of head office and conduct
• tasks in accordance with the requirements
• To perform any other duties or assignments as assigned by superiors.

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering, health, safety, or environmental field of study
• Working experience in the chemical industry
• Deep knowledge of Safety legislation and regulations in the chemical industry
• Registered with MOM as Workplace Safety & Health Officer is preferred.
