The Department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, seeks applicants for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor with an emphasis in companion animals. Position responsibilities are approximately 65% teaching, 30% research, and 5% institutional service. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate courses related to companion animal science and management. They will also be expected to develop a collaborative, externally-funded research program. Areas of potential research related to companion animals include, but are not limited to, nutrition, genetics, health, physiology, reproduction, lactation, pet food processing, behavior and training, or meat science/meat safety (as applied to pet food). The successful applicant may also choose to pursue a research program based on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to address emerging and traditional issues in companion animal science and management and demonstrate the ability to relate those issues to students and to other stakeholders. The positions are located at the department of Information and Service Management and the postdoctoral researchers will work in tight co-operation with the faculty.
