We are an aspiring organisation, and we are looking for an equally bold and creative school leaver to join our exciting Computer Aided Design (CAD) team as a CAD Apprentice based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe, Cranfield. Nissan is positioned to become the most desirable Asian brand in Europe, and we need your help to get there!
Role
In collaboration with MK College, you will undertake a comprehensive 5-year Apprenticeship scheme and training programme to develop your CAD, design, engineering skills and knowledge whilst working with the current CAD team to develop components for our future Nissan vehicles.
You will gain a detailed insight into motor vehicle development leading to a Level 3 Apprenticeship and HND qualification. Following the successful completion of your apprenticeship and dependant on performance, you will start the next stage of your Nissan career as a CAD Engineer.
You must be enthusiastic with a keen interest in design, engineering and IT, a quick learner, good communicator and have the ability to work well individually and as part of our dynamic CAD team.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Following an on-the-job CAD training plan to develop your skills and knowledge in order to create CAD models for motor vehicle development. Plan contains the following training:
CAD 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
Digital Simulation
Engineering/manufacturing and moulding
Vehicle knowledge and manufacturing
Attend college on day-release to obtain:
Practical Skills Level 2
Advanced Level 3 Engineering Design & Draftsperson Apprenticeship
HND – Engineering Advanced
Using 3D printing software and machines to create prototype parts.
Use of advanced simulation technologies to support vehicle development.
Involved in CAD Department promotional strategies and activities within NTCE.
Working in various departments including exterior and interior trim
Produce and maintain supplementary documentation, to support CAD studies and styling feedback.
Opportunity to visit NMUK manufacturing plant and NDE styling design studio.
Qualifications
1 x A level or 2 x AS Levels Grade C or above in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) or a Level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline.
Background and Experience
Interest in motor vehicles and/or engineering, design, and IT systems
Technical drawing aptitude
Good 3D spatial awareness
Good problem-solving skills.
Good computer skills
Have good written and verbal communication skills.
Logical thinker
Self-motivated
Flexible mindset
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Valid UK/European driving licence is essential for the role, if not already in place, this must be gained during the apprenticeship.

Salary starting at £18,673.
Based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, MK43 0DB; 4 days per week.
1 day per week at MK college.
