Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Assistant (1 year, Clinical Research and Public Health Projects)

We are looking for a Research Assistant for research projects on risk communication in clinical trials and public health research. The candidate will have the opportunity to undertake training/gain experience in health research.

Major duties of the Research Assistant will include:

• Conduct literature review
• Prepare and submit of human subject ethics protocols
• Construct and program online surveys
• Recruit research participants and assist with data collection and data analysis
• Assist with the editing and preparation of research reports and manuscripts
• Assist with the project management and provide secretarial support to the project(s)

Requirements:

• Strong communication skills and (academic) writing skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary
• Be well-organized and have an eye for detail
• Knowledge of empirical research (e.g., clinical trials, surveys, interviews) and quantitative research methods in health and medicine

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experiences:

• Experience in conducting research in one or more of the following types of research: clinical trials, clinical/public health survey studies, qualitative studies
• Experience in analyzing data using statistical software (e.g., R or Stata).
• Have interest in clinical trials and public health research

Job Description

Research Assistant

We are recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to support the Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Natasha Howard, in the implementation and administration of research projects in the areas of health equity, infectious disease control, and global health.

Responsibilities:
The research assistant will focus on research and administration in infectious disease control policy and health system strengthening in the Asia region. This will include:
• Supporting qualitative and quantitative research, including contributing to design, implementation, analysis, and write-up of journal manuscripts and reports/policy outputs.
• Project management and administration for multiple research projects, including ethics review applications to NUS IRB and study country review boards, donor reporting, and liaison with relevant teams in NUS SPH and internationally.
• Assisting the PI in other day-to-day tasks as required.

Requirements:
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject area.
• Excellent academic writing and communication skills in English.
• Experience of successfully managing multiple tasks concurrently.
• Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills and experience, including at least some experience with conducting or analysing semi-structured interviews, and capacity/interest to learn social science methodology.
• Highly organized and able to work effectively under pressure, use independent judgement, produce high-quality quality work, and problem solve within time constraints.
• Able to work independently as well as with a team.

Desirable:
• Degree or relevant experience using social science methodology.
• Experience with Atlas.ai/NVivo and R or similar, and capacity/interest to learn.
• Experience of research in global health and/or health policy and systems.

The Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) at the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore invites applications for Research Associate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Director of NCPA (Prof Liu Hong) and other research staff at NCPA, as well as the School of Social Sciences
• Coordinate NCPA's research activities within NTU (including the Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship Programme) and with external partners

Job Requirements:

• Master's degree in one of the relevant fields of public administration, public policy, Asian Studies, political science, and international political economy from a reputed university
• At least three years of relevant experience
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members is particularly welcome
• Strong background and demonstrated experience in research, field work, data collection and analysis, and publication
• Demonstrated experience using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies would be preferred

Coordinator

• Perform screening activities according to protocol eligibility criteria and assist in recruitment.
• Assist investigator in explaining study objectives and procedures to potential participants.
• Verify eligibility of participants before recruitment.
• Assist to obtain written consent from each study participant prior to participation in the study.
• Schedule study visits and ensure visit schedules are adhered to.
• Create source documents and any other research documents required for the successful conduct of a clinical research study or trial.
• Manage data collection in an accurate and timely manner.
• Monitor and report all adverse/ unanticipated events, abnormal results, and protocol deviations or non-compliance.
• Manage budget.
• Assist PI in preparation of study-related presentations/materials.
• Participate in the evaluation of research results where required.

Requirement

• Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Health Management / Nursing or equivalent

Assistant

• Conduct literature search and write up of research findings.
• Perform data collation, data cleaning, data analysis.
• Develop publication and communication plans, posters and slides for presentations as well as drafting abstracts and manuscripts for publication.

Requirement

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology / Life Science / Public Health / Nursing or equivalent
