Done Research and Development Engineer

Conceptualization and Design: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to conceptualize drone projects based on client requirements, market trends, and technological advancements. Designing drone systems, components, and subsystems using CAD software and engineering principles.

We’re looking to add a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer in Singapore. The position is based in our HQ at Ang Mo Kio.

As a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer, you will:

• Engage in both conceptual and detailed design tasks involving mechanical parts and modules, electro-mechanical subsystems, micro-mechanisms, and transmission systems.
• Utilize Finite Element Analysis/Computational Fluid Dynamic (FEA/CFD) simulations to verify design margin, tolerance analysis, and process/failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA/FMEA) as necessary.
• Employ Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools to enhance design manufacturability.
• Conduct impact analysis to refine designs, ensuring they meet specifications, project timelines, and cost objectives.
• Participate in technical discussions and present design solutions to clients.
• Coordinate the fabrication, assembly, and validation of prototypes to ensure they meet specifications.
• Author specifications, requirements, and validation plans for assigned design modules.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and part suppliers throughout the product lifecycle in a face-paced environment.

What skills and experiences are we looking for?

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Preferably possess solid knowledge and experience in product design, mechanisms, and product industrialization.
• Advantageous to have working knowledge and experience in various materials such as plastic, sheet metal, machining, extrusion, and silicone rubber parts.
• Proficient in CAD tools such as Solidworks and other simulation software.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
• Experience in packaging design is a plus.

Job Description

• Design and develop metrology systems, with large focus on multidisciplinary engineering skills, based on latest technologies to fulfil customers from semiconductor manufacturing industry

Responsibilities:

As part of our small and dynamic team you play a key role in the design and development of our Inspection and Metrology machines. In your role you will work hands-on on the mechanical integration, process optimization and automation of the machine. Your work will involve integration of the mechatronic, optical and SW building blocks and will hence work closely together with Mechanical design, Hardware, Optics and SW teams.

It is your job to analyse customer requirements, build up a deep understanding of the problem and translate these in automated solutions that you detail clearly in measurable design requirements. To verify the solutions, you will build and test high-speed mechatronic setups for spec validation and critical parameter analysis. Once these are confirmed, you will coordinate the design and implementation in the different teams to eventually integrate tested modules and building blocks in the machine and assess the impact of the integration on the overall machine performance.

You get the chance to confirm high speed Pick and Place handling capabilities at key customers on site and broaden your customer and application know how along the way.

Furthermore you seek the challenge of understanding, analyzing, (re-)defining, and implementing sophisticated material handling flows until the level of detailed micro-sequences.

You will often write PLC level test sequences for mockup validation and data collection. Once the system is validated, translate these sequences into SW requirements.

You consider the total system life cycle, the birth to death concept extends to maintenance, replacement and decommission.

Requirements:

• MS degree or BS degree with outstanding skill in electro-mechanical, electronics, software or mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years relevant experience in an automation oriented engineering role in a high-end equipment company, covering most of following technical domains: machine conceptual and mechanical design, setting up specifications, PLC controller hardware and software design, user interface, SW (describing, testing of flows), conversion, test protocols, debugging, characterization, lead improvement projects

To support stencil printing, dispensing, Flux dipping, Flip Chip and die attach process under the engineer's supervision with on newly die attach and advanced solder paste.

Positive work attitude, hands-on with semiconductor process equipment, data gathering, and fundamentals of statistical data analysis must be required.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide technical application test supports for newly developing solder and sinter paste products.
• Technical support to customer development projects and technical development projects.
