The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is a division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). At CCRS, our mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community. Our vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focussing on the Southeast Asia region.
Within CCRS, the High Performance Computing (HPC) Branch is responsible for the technical development, optimization, implementation and management of CCRS’s software systems running on in-house ‘Utama’ and Singapore National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) HPC systems. CCRS’s core ‘SINGV’ weather/climate modelling system is a regional, tropical configuration of the Unified Model (UM), used in both weather (Numerical Weather Prediction – NWP) and climate change (regional climate projections) applications. CCRS is also enhancing its rainfall nowcasting capabilities (predicting heavy rainfall in Singapore over the next 30-60 minutes) using machine learning techniques in collaboration with local and international partners.
This position will further enhance CCRS’s software engineering capabilities, focussing on the technical development, optimization, implementation and monitoring of CCRS’s operational rainfall nowcasting and NWP systems.

Singapore is particularly well placed to lead research in this field as its health system has been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world based in independent evaluation with the Global Burden of Disease data. The new Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP) aims to advance research in this area within the Yon Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the leading centre for research in health systems in Asia. CRiHSP will be composed of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in health systems (health services and policy researchers, data scientists, social scientists, and others), and administrators. We are now looking for a Deep Learning Performance Architect!
NVIDIA is seeking outstanding Performance Analysis Architects with a background in performance modeling, architecture simulation, and profiling to help analyze and develop the next generation of architectures that accelerate AI and high-performance computing applications.
What you’ll be doing:
Develop innovative architectures to extend the state of the art in deep learning performance and efficiency
Prototype key deep learning and data analytics algorithms and applications
Analyze performance, cost and power trade-offs by developing analytical models, simulators and test suites
Understand and analyze the interplay of hardware and software architectures on future algorithms, programming models and applications
Actively collaborate with software, product and research teams to guide the direction of deep learning HW and SW
What we need to see:
A Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related relevant field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of relevant work experience in computer architecture
Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning
Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++
Experience with performance modeling, architecture simulation, profiling, and analysis
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Background with GPU Computing and parallel programming models such as CUDA and OpenCL
Experience with deep neural network training, inference and optimization in leading frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, Tensorflow, TensorRT)
Experience with the architecture of or workload analysis on other DL accelerators

The Apac Regional Trainer works closely with regional leadership to gain a full understanding of the company’s strategic vision, as it affects training demands and key department decisions.
