We are looking for an Assistant Service Supervisor to join our team in Muir of Ord.
As an Assistant Service Supervisor, you will carry out servicing and repairs to plant and agricultural machinery both in our depot and at our customer’s sites.
You will also be responsible for assisting the Service Supervisor with all areas of the service department, including helping to lead our engineers and apprentices. This role would suit someone with management experience or a skilled engineer looking to take the next step in their career.

Our Muir of Ord depot is located on Great North Road, Muir of Ord, IV6 7UA - lesss than 20 minutes from Inverness city centre. A great depot with a team of 14 employees working across the service, parts and sales departments.

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent, Capitol Building, Assistant Superintendent, Capitol Building and Capitol Visitor Center Operations and Maintenance Division, Maintenance Branch, Plumbing Section. The incumbent is a full Assistant Supervisor to the Pipefitter Supervisor. The incumbent supervises and performs pipefitting operations.
This position is designated as "Emergency/Essential," the incumbent will be required to report to work during emergencies and inclement weather conditions.
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, 5:00am to 1:30pm
Major Duties:
Functions as a full assistant to the Pipefitter Supervisor with full authority to act on all matters for which the supervisor is responsible. Shares responsibility with the Pipefitter Supervisor for the work performed by subordinates in the section.
Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates such as assigning duties and evaluates performance, managing the organizational unit’s budget and workload, developing performance requirements for subordinates and ensures a mutual understanding of the performance standards; resolving complaints and grievances. In the absence of the supervisor, prepares cost estimates from drawings, blueprints or site inspections for proposed or anticipated renovations, construction projects and alterations. Maintains computerized work orders, logbooks, material inventories, cost estimates, material take offs, inventory sheets, blueprints and drawings. Requisitions supplies, materials and tools.
Utilizes the electronic Building Automation System (BAS) to install, monitor, diagnose, repair and maintain multifaceted, diverse vendor products as required to sustain the operations of the U.S. Congress and preserve heritage assets in a protective interior climate, including moisture-controlled preservation requirements related to piping systems.
Serves as a journey-level pipefitter and inspects and troubleshoots piping system equipment and fixtures.
Using specifications and plumbing codes, fixes and replaces pipes, fittings and water and storm drainage systems.
Replaces commodes, lavatories, showers, water heaters, hot water tanks, water pumps and sprinkler systems.
May use a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes and thicknesses.
Restores pipe, steam traps and relief and control valves. Uses unions, flanges and sweating to attach pipes.
Attaches pipe sections by screwing, bolting, brazing, welding, gluing, fusing and soldering.
Positions system routes, fixes regulating devices and arranges hangers for proper angle.
Fixes risers, expansion joints, pumps, gauges and pressure and assures proper operation. Uses blueprints, layout sketches and specifications for correct sizing.
Replaces steam heating, steam-generating or radiator systems and fixes high-pressure piping systems and equipment.
Fixes, adjusts and replaces sewage or water systems, showers and fire sprinkler systems. Refurbishes current plumbing systems.
Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable safety OSHA and Office of Compliance safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training to ensure that all direct reports know how to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE.
Require knowledge of hazardous (e.g. lead paint and solvents) and universal (e.g. lamps and batteries) waste management requirements to ensure compliance with environmental regulations in performance of duties (e.g. decide hazardous material is no longer needed and will be disposed, select containers for waste accumulation, add waste to containers, label containers, move waste to and from waste accumulation sites, manage waste accumulation sites.
Provide waste management guidance and answer questions concerning waste management.

The Assistant Supervisor assists the Supervisor in providing continuous on-the-job training of the Marshal's Aides, and plans, directs and implements directives, instructions and requests from the Marshal's Office. Coordinates with the Supervisor in scheduling staff to set up and maintain the Courtroom, escort and/or seat dignitaries, special visitors and the public. Establishes priorities on a wide variety of other requested services provided by the Marshal's Aides. Supervises the operation and control of the Court's owned and leased vehicles, to include their receipt, registration, inspection, maintenance and turn-in at end of lease period. Conducts and schedules vehicle safety training, enforcing vehicle safety rules and regulations. Assigns drivers, schedules daily trips, monitors all vehicles and renders necessary reports and recommendations as required. Makes recommendations to the Deputy Marshal Administrative Support and the Supervisor concerning personnel matters, such as recruitment, promotions, training and disciplinary actions. Keeps time and attendance records and approves leave.
