An excellent opportunity has arisen at the Royal Marsden Hospital to work within the Critical Care, Surgical and Anaesthetics Team as a Clinical Research Operations Manager. This is a pivotal role, and you will be part of a dedicated research team.
You will require previous clinical research experience, have an understanding of research methodology and Trial Design. Previous project management would be beneficial, and you will require knowledge and understanding of research finance and AcoRD. You should be educated to degree level or equivalent and have evidence of continuing professional development.
The successful applicant should have a flexible approach to their duties and the ability to work both as part of the team as well as independently. In addition you will have excellent communication, administrative and IT skills and be supportive and open to new initiatives.

• Take responsibility for ensuring all clinical trials Sponsored and Hosted within the Surgical, Critical Care and Anaesthetics research clinical research unit are set-up, conducted and managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, all relevant Standard Operating Procedures, and relevant legislation / governance.
• Manage and lead the administrative / operational team of the Surgical, Critical Care and Anaesthetics research clinical research unit.
• Manage and oversee the finances and budget of the Surgical, Critical Care and Anaesthetics research clinical research unit, ensuring a balanced portfolio which enables sufficient income generation for the sustainability and development of the team.
• Co-develop and be responsible for the operational delivery of the strategy of the Surgical, Critical Care and Anaesthetics research clinical research unit, in conjunction with the consultants / researchers and Lead Research Nurse.

• Co-develop and be responsible for the operational delivery of the research unit strategy alongside the consultants / researchers.
• Manage, collate, maintain and monitor existing research, publications and audit activities and outputs of the research unit.
• Seek out and support research opportunities in a bid to increase the numbers of new trials undertaken within the unit and in collaboration with other units and external organisations.
• Provide overall financial management of the research unit budget, and effective management of individual clinical trial budgets, including financial reporting as required.
