Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Provides effective and efficient access to prosthetic and sensory aid programs involving a high degree of visibility throughout the medical center and general public with direct patient contact, many of whom are severely disabled.
• Interacts and relate in a pleasant manner with patients, service officers, doctors, and other health professionals.
• Receives and completes action on written or electronic prosthetic requests for appliances, services, durable medical equipment (DME); issues in-stock items assuring legal eligibility and medical entitlement criteria is met; and determines patient education referrals for prosthetics and sensory aids.
• Receives and screens incoming mail, correspondence, and telephone calls; performs data collection to prepare and submit numerous reports (e.g., inventory management; delayed orders; patient satisfaction survey; quality improvement; suspense; etc.)
• Maintains accurate patient records electronically and/or paper files. This involves regular access to documents that contain sensitive information, which must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974, and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Utilizes knowledge of infection control policies and procedures pertaining to both new and used devices/equipment; and knowledge of universal precautions to protect self and others from contagious diseases.
• Uses computer principles and programs (Microsoft, Electronic Mail, Word, Excel, etc.) and various databases, including patient medical records, inventory and supply management, software specific to prosthetics and sensory aids, etc.)
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
