Research Assistant - East Midlands
Hays are working collaboratively with universities across the Midlands, searching for motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistants to join their team and support in various research projects. You will be responsible for conducting literature reviews, collecting, and analysing data, preparing reports and presentations, and assisting with grant applications and publications.
To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor's degree or higher in a biology or chemistry related field. You should also have excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software. Previous research experience is desirable but not essential.


As a research assistant, you will:

• Perform literature searches and reviews using online databases and libraries.
• Design and implement research methods and procedures, such as surveys, experiments, interviews, and observations.
• Collect, organise, and manage data using spreadsheets, databases, and software such as SPSS, R, or MATLAB.
• Analyse data using descriptive and inferential statistics, as well as qualitative methods.
• Write clear and concise reports and summaries of research findings.
• Prepare and deliver presentations and posters to communicate research results.
• Assist with writing and editing grant proposals and academic papers.
• Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders on the research team.
• Follow ethical guidelines and protocols for conducting research.

The ideal candidate would have:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in biology and/or chemistry related courses.
• A strong interest in research and a curiosity for learning new things.
• A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• A good command of written and spoken English.
• A willingness to learn new skills and tools.
• A flexible and adaptable attitude.
• A positive and collaborative work ethic.
