The Staff Accountant, Accounting Quality assists with planning and execution of North American store reviews and consolidated risk based analytical review procedures. The Staff Accountant works alongside other members of the Accounting Quality Team reviewing store compliance with dealership accounting policies, US GAAP, and other regulations. Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounting Quality, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting initiatives to maintain quality and consistency in financial reporting across Lithia’s North American network.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining up to date knowledge of Lithia’s accounting policy manual, auditing techniques and US GAAP
• Conducting appropriate work procedures to test store compliance with policies, procedures, manufacturer and lender requirements and US GAAP
• Maintaining an understanding of systems used in stores and becoming the team’s go-to expert or accessing documents and store information within assigned systems
• Documenting results of test procedures in a clear, understandable manner
• Consulting with team members and utilizing knowledge base in executing procedures
• Developing and maintaining a positive, productive, collaborative professional relationship with Store and Home Office Personnel
• Participating in other departmental initiatives as needed

The Supervisor, Accounting Quality plans and executes North American store reviews and consolidated risk based analytical review procedures.   The Supervisor leads, both in the field and as part of quarterly consolidated reviews, other members of the Accounting Quality Team reviewing store compliance with dealership accounting policies, US GAAP, and other regulations. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Quality, the Supervisor plays a key role in developing and driving initiatives to maintain quality and consistency in financial reporting across Lithia’s North American Network.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining advanced knowledge of Lithia’s accounting policy manual, auditing techniques, and US GAAP
• Performing risk assessment, proposing scope of business processes and stores for testing
• Developing procedures to test store compliance with policies, procedures, manufacturer requirements and US GAAP
• Leading team members while executing the Accounting Quality Store Review plan, reviewing conclusions of staff and senior accountants, preparing reporting for assigned store reviews
• Tracking and reporting on remediation efforts
• Serving as a coach and mentor for a team of two to three staff and senior accountants
• Tracking budget versus actual and troubleshooting delays and overruns
• Collaborating effectively by proactively seeking input from relevant resources and consulting with colleagues to ensure scope of testing and testing conclusions are appropriate
• Developing and maintaining a positive, productive, collaborative professional relationship with Store and Home Office Personnel
• Participating in other cross-departmental initiatives as needed

Dealership Accounting Coordinator I

The Dealership Accounting Coordinator (“DAC”) I is an individual contributor who supports in-store accounting operations leadership and is a key contributor to ensure effective communication and collaboration between Lithia Home Office (“LHO”), the regional Accounting Processing Center (“APC”) and store operations.

The DAC I generally will report to either a Business Manager (“BM”) or Accounting Supervisor.

Location: Bend, OR (On-site)

Compensation Range: $20/hr - $21/hr

Responsibilities (NOTE:  In some instances, depending on assigned work function, job duties may emphasize certain elements more than others.)

• Complete daily check and credit card deposit
  • Assist in reconciliation of cash sales accounting schedule
  • In coordination with a BM, work with store operations employees on any process related changes that need made to maintain a reconciled cash sales accounting schedule  
• Audit car deals for accuracy and completeness utilizing the Deal Checklist
  • 2nd line of audit defense prior to deal being sent to APC for processing
  • Maintain notes of missing or incorrect items in Booked and Pending report in the Performance Dashboard
  • Work closely with variable operations to ensure collection of outstanding revenue recognition and state compliance required items
  • Provide back up support to F&I Managers for scanning required documents into Digital Deal Jacket
• Review for completeness and accuracy all IRS Form 8300s for processing
• Assist BM in maintaining reconciled accounting schedules as assigned
• Cross-train on Title & Registration Specialist role in situations where applicable to provide back up support to other in-store accounting operations functions
• Meet performance standards of accuracy, timeliness, cure rates, and efficiency as established by the Company
• Additional work and tasks as assigned

Main Job Responsibilities

* Perform tasks accurately and independently as assigned by line manager through application of accounting and business knowledge (for example open purchase order review and analysis of related accruals, preparation of working files and related journal entries including GTN, Profitability adjustment, Lease accounting)
* Prepare and review scheduled Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation Activities, action, monitor and execute escalations.
