Position Overview:
The Supply and Distribution Manager will oversee all supply chain operations, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution of catering supplies. This role is essential in ensuring timely delivery of food and equipment, maintaining supplier relationships, and optimizing distribution processes to enhance client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Logistics Management
Oversee and manage all transportation and distribution activities related to catering services, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of food and equipment to clients and venues.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance delivery efficiency and reliability.
2. Supply Chain Coordination
Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of raw materials, food items, and catering equipment, ensuring materials are available to meet production demands.
Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and ensure consistent supply for operations.
3. Team Leadership
Supervise the transportation and logistics team, ensuring compliance with schedules and company policies during all delivery operations.
Provide training and support to staff, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
4. Route Planning
Develop and implement optimized delivery routes to minimize transportation costs and time.
Prepare daily run sheets for drivers and logistics personnel, ensuring clarity in delivery schedules.
5. Inventory Control
Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring the proper storage and handling of food products to meet quality and safety standards.
Conduct regular inventory audits to assess stock levels and identify areas for improvement.
6. Customer Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding delivery schedules, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction through effective communication.
Address and resolve any distribution-related issues that may arise during transportation or delivery.
7. Reporting and Analysis
Prepare detailed reports on delivery performance, inventory levels, and transportation costs, using data to identify inefficiencies and recommend operational improvements.
Analyze performance metrics to inform strategic decisions and enhance overall distribution processes.
8. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and food safety standards.
Oversee vehicle maintenance and ensure adherence to safety regulations in all transportation activities.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in hospitality, logistics, business management, or a related field.
2-3 years of experience in a similar role, with a preference for experience in food-related logistics.
Familiarity with transportation planning software or inventory management tools is beneficial.
Strong understanding of transportation, supply chain management, and distribution strategies, particularly for perishable goods (food).
Proven ability to lead and motivate a logistics team, ensuring smooth operations and timely deliveries.
Capable of addressing unforeseen logistics challenges, such as delays and vehicle breakdowns, with effective solutions.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries, inventory, and staff schedules efficiently.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for effective interaction with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Proficiency in logistics software and inventory management systems, with strong analytical skills to review data for process improvement.
Meticulous in ensuring all food and equipment are correctly packed, labeled, and transported safely.
Understanding of food safety standards and transportation regulations in the hospitality industry.
