Science Centre Singapore is dedicated to the promotion of interest, learning and creativity in science & technology through imaginative and enjoyable experiences, and to contribute to the nation's development of its human resource.
We are looking for a dynamic member to join the School and Professional department as E-Instructional Designer. You will draw on unparalleled access to the multi-disciplinary expertise of the Science Centre Exhibitions and Programmes. The job will include developing online programmes for informal learning in Science/STEM, developing programmes together with the Science Centre’s team of educators and playing a key role in inspiring students locally and globally.
Essential Job Functions
As an E-Instructional Designer, you will define, evaluate, and implement overall solution components for e-learning (LMS), including student profiling, personalized content delivery and portfolio building by using various e-learning tools including SCORM, interactives, peer reviews etc as appropriate.
You will need to embrace different styles of training techniques, including e-learning, videos, tutorials, and resource guides.
You will engage Science Centre’s exhibition and education teams to find verticals in Physical Sciences, Nature Sciences, STEM, “Just in time Science” and other areas such as STEAM and STREAM.
You will find adventurous ways to excite and engage learners across digital learning, enabling technologies, social media, gamification, mobile, VR, 3D, and other modes of learning.
You will work with technical team, both with users of various roles (student/teacher/manager/admin) as well as technical stability tests ensure deployed online courses to are suitable for target audience. You will produce instructional guides for navigating and for grading and ensure the course content brings about demonstrable learning outcome.
You will process reports and feedback on various aspects of the online learning platform and its use and evaluate the effectiveness of the e-learning curriculum and resources.
Successful candidates will also be placed on ground and visitor interaction duty that will include occasional evening and weekend work.
Requirements
The candidate must possess minimum 1 to 3 years of working experience in Instructional Design and in developing and delivery of online courseware and in working with LMS environment.
He/she must have extensive experience in developing creative and engaging training/content designing and development of learning content, methodologies, and delivery methods for online and in person (onsite). He/she should have knowledge of Web Services, APIs, Relational Databases and Basic Programming and be familiar with online training curriculum and solutions. Experience in one or more of the following – Articulate 360, Rise, technical aspects or previously served as a system administrator role of Moodle LMS, Javascript, APIs, Data analytics will be an advantage.
The candidate needs to be a hands-on person, who is comfortable with both in-house development as well as working with external partners and vendors on content development and delivery. A background in Science is essential. Experience in working in Agile product development environment is preferred.
The ideal candidate must be confident and an engaging facilitator and communicator, being totally comfortable in front of both small and large audiences. He/she must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to convey and relate ideas to others and work collaboratively to get things done. In addition, he/she must be detail oriented, a team player with an outgoing personality and good communication, presentation, influencing and collaboration skill.
