The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire research staff with relevant experience to lead and support work on health technology assessment (HTA).

The Research Assistant will play a critical role in the development of the Centre’s growing research agenda to support health policy and services research in Singapore and the region, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts and policy makers in the field. The successful candidate will be expected to perform research administration, conduct research, disseminate research findings, and be involved in capacity building through conducting workshops for local and regional participants. Requirements:

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Researcher to join our team focused on the development of advanced materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in self-assembly techniques, layer-by-layer deposition, permeability and separation measurements, and catalytic reactions.

Job Requirements

• PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience in membrane technology, self-assembly techniques and layer-by-layer deposition methods
• Proficiency in characterizing materials using analytical techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, and spectroscopy
• Experience in conducting permeability and separation measurements is highly desirable
• Knowledge of catalytic reactions and experience in catalyst synthesis and characterization
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present research findings effectively

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a carbon negative concrete product with environmental and ecological functions – carbon-activated steel slag permeable concrete (SSPC) for green urban infrastructure. In this system, coarse and fine electric arf furnace steel slags are to be used as aggregates, while ultra-fine steel slags (UFSS) will be incorporated into a blended binder.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
• Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
  i. Formulation of the UFSS based blended binder and the SSPC.
  ii. To study and codify the functions of SSPC including drainage management, contaminant removal, and ecological benefits.
  iii. To work with industry partners on the scaling up and test bedding at precast yard and project sites.
• Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
• Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
• Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

Job Requirements

• Have relevant competence in the areas of carbonation and hydration of cementitious materials, and concrete materials characterisation.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on a research project in partnership with industry collaborator where you will be part of the research team to develop both 5G and satellite-based connectivity testbed, integrating the heterogenous wireless networks, for end user devices used typically in maritime applications. The project is in collaboration with an industry partner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake these responsibilities in the research project:
  i. Design and develop connectivity testbed with optimal router configurations and gateway setups for heterogenous wireless networks.
  ii. Perform 5G network, quality of service and radio coverage measurements in specific port-based locations in the southern coastlines of Singapore along with the industry partner.
  iii. Integrate edge devices and sensors used typically in maritime operations with the connectivity testbed enabling ship-to-shore communication.
  iv. Perform basic radio coverage modeling and simulations leading to analysis of maritime scenarios and their impact on network planning
  v. Interpret and carry-out investigative data-analysis with correlation of measurement results
• Coordinate very closely with research team and industry partner in the project execution and in the procurement, process including liaison with test and measurement equipment/services vendors/suppliers.
• Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

Job Requirements:

• Have relevant competence in the areas of 5G networks, router configurations and gateway setups. Specific knowledge/experience related to satellite networks and related equipment is an advantage.
• Have experience in cloud-based network configuration, deployment and management is an advantage.
• Specific knowledge in routing protocols and setting up of network interfaces is an advantage
• Have sufficient skills in programming for data analysis of measurement data analysis to carry out correlation analysis, use of simulation tools for radio network planning
• Have a degree in electrical / electronic / computer engineering or other relevant fields.
• Previous experience in network applications using LTE/5G/WLAN/Bluetooth will be advantageous
