Our client is seeking an
Application Developer to provide development support for a new
Inspections application.
The new Inspections application will allow agency field inspectors to collect agricultural inspection data through online forms, save the collected information to a
SQL database, and generate and store corresponding
PDF documents.
The client's existing inspections program is scheduled to be
decommissioned in Spring 2027, and the replacement system is currently being developed in-house.
Essential to this effort is a contracted developer with
beginner-to-intermediate experience in JavaScript and SQL, along with working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
The primary focus of this position will be converting approximately
70 existing fillable PDF inspection documents into interactive HTML forms that field inspectors can use for data collection.
The developer will use
JavaScript to build the functionality required for inspector inputs to be saved to the SQL database.
Jinja templates will then be used to compile the collected information back into new PDF documents.
In addition to the primary form-development responsibilities, the developer will provide additional
JavaScript development support as needed to help keep the overall project on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert approximately 70 existing fillable PDF inspection documents into new interactive HTML forms
- Develop web-based forms that allow field inspectors to collect and submit agricultural inspection information
- Use HTML and CSS to create and structure the inspection forms
- Develop application functionality using JavaScript
- Build functionality allowing inspector inputs to be captured and saved to the SQL database
- Work with SQL/T-SQL to support application data storage and retrieval
- Use Jinja templates to compile inspection data into newly generated PDF documents
- Support the generation and storage of completed PDF inspection documents
- Ensure converted HTML forms accurately represent the information contained in the existing fillable PDF documents
- Develop form functionality, validation, and data-handling logic
- Test and troubleshoot forms and application functionality
- Identify and resolve JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and database-related issues
- Provide additional JavaScript development support as needed
- Assist the development team in keeping the Inspections application project on track
- Collaborate with internal developers and other project stakeholders
- Support testing, debugging, implementation, and ongoing application enhancements
- Assist with application development tasks throughout the project's remaining lifecycle
