The Role
- Own customer-facing features end-to-end, across the Swift/SwiftUI client and Rust backend.
- Build and evolve a Finder-grade file browser, integrating AppKit into SwiftUI where necessary.
- Design and evolve gRPC / Protobuf contracts between the app and agent as the product grows.
- Work within a large, fault-tolerant Rust workspace using async/tokio, built for reliable customer deployment.
- Ship native macOS applications, handling code signing, entitlements, notarization, sandboxing, and launchd services.
- Balance speed, performance, and future scalability, prioritizing based on project needs.
What You'll Need
- Strong experience with Swift + SwiftUI and significant hands-on AppKit experience, particularly with NSCollectionView, NSTableView, NSBrowser, NSPathControl.
- Proficiency with Rust async/tokio in a large workspace of shared crates.
- Expertise in concurrency and async programming on both Swift (async/await, MVVM, @Observable) and Rust (tokio/futures) platforms.
- Experience with gRPC / Protocol Buffers, including designing and evolving versioned RPC contracts.
- Fluency with macOS platform specifics such as launchd services, code signing, entitlements, notarization, sandboxing, and os.Logger.
- Ability to make a significant impact through skills in GraphQL client work, filesystem internals (FUSE/FSKit/WinFSP), P2P and networking systems (WebRTC, NAT traversal), or cross-platform systems thinking.
