About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff/Principal DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our platform's infrastructure, security, and developer enablement. This is a hands-on, technical leadership role focused on architecting and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will be instrumental in building robust CI/CD pipelines, enhancing observability, and automating workflows to improve developer productivity. As the first senior individual contributor in this domain, you will set the foundation for our infrastructure strategy and work closely with engineering teams to support our rapid growth. Your expertise will directly impact the stability and security of our platform, enabling us to deliver innovative products and experiences to our community.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior, Staff, or Principal DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer, with a track record of managing high-growth, high-traffic platforms.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure, with extensive hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong background in designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.
- Proficiency with containerization technologies, including Docker, and experience with orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) or ECS.
- Experience supporting and migrating legacy systems, especially within the PHP/Magento ecosystem, is highly advantageous.
- Security-first mindset with experience implementing security best practices, vulnerability assessments, compliance controls, and infrastructure security tools.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive observability strategies, including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting using tools like Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for improving developer experience and automating operational workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and pragmatic approach to supporting complex legacy and modern systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or Azure platforms.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, ensuring infrastructure reliability, repeatability, and security.
- Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and safe deployment processes for all components of the tech stack, including frontend, mobile, and backend systems.
- Own and stabilize the hosting environment for critical platforms such as Magento, implementing best practices for performance, security, and zero-downtime deployments.
- Implement and manage observability tools and strategies to monitor system health, define SLOs/SLIs, and proactively address issues before they impact users.
- Automate operational workflows and eliminate bottlenecks to improve overall engineering efficiency and reliability.
- Partner with engineering teams to embed security practices into infrastructure design, automate security controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Enhance developer experience by improving local development environments, streamlining build processes, and providing self-service automation tools.
- Lead initiatives to improve platform security, vulnerability management, and compliance, ensuring alignment with cyber insurance and regulatory requirements.
