Compile is synthetic neuroscience. We design biological neural circuits to specification — specify a cognitive capability, compile it to a circuit through directed evolution on real connectomes, and reverse-compile to a developmental growth program that can grow the circuit from scratch.

Pros: The best part about Compile has been the collaborative environment. My colleagues in the engineering department are always willing to help out, which made learning the codebase and contributing quickly a much smoother process. The company also offers decent flexibility for a remote role, allowing me to manage my schedule effectively. I've seen opportunities for technical growth and learning new technologies.
Cons: While leadership is generally supportive, sometimes there's a lack of clear direction on long-term project roadmaps, leading to occasional pivots that feel a bit abrupt. Approval processes for certain initiatives can also be a bit slow, which sometimes impacts velocity. It would be beneficial to have more consistent strategic communication from the top.
Advice to Management: Focus on providing clearer, more consistent long-term strategic direction for projects and streamline internal approval workflows to improve developer efficiency.
