Supportive Leadership in Zoo Food Service
Pros: The leadership at Craft Culinary Concepts, specifically at the Reid Park Zoo location, was genuinely supportive. Our managers were always present, offering guidance without micromanaging. They did a great job with scheduling, ensuring we had decent work-life balance for a concessions role. The team environment among the Cashier staff and other Food Service Associates was fantastic, making busy days fun. It's a contract catering company so things can be fast-paced, but everyone pulled together.
Cons: While leadership was good, sometimes during peak season, communication about schedule changes could be a little last minute, which was tough for planning personal commitments. Also, for a Cashier role, there aren't many clear paths for career growth within the immediate location, unless you're looking to move into a supervisory role within the food and beverage industry more broadly. Pay and benefits were standard for the industry, but nothing exceptional, especially for part-time seasonal
Advice to Management: Keep up the great work with your hands-on and supportive leadership style; it truly makes a difference in employee morale and productivity. Consider implementing a more robust system for communicating schedule adjustments further in advance, especially during the busy periods. Exploring more

Good Experience in Busy Catering Kitchen
Pros: The best part about working here is the team camaraderie. Everyone pitches in, and you really feel like you're part of a family, especially during large events. I learned a ton about different cuisines and efficient food prep techniques, which has been invaluable for my career in the culinary arts. The exposure to diverse catering jobs is also a major plus.
Cons: While the team is great, managing workload can be a challenge. Sometimes the hours can be unpredictable, especially during peak season, which impacts work-life balance. There's also room for improvement in terms of consistent communication from management regarding scheduling and event details.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing a more structured system for communication regarding schedules and event specifics to help staff manage their time better.
