Pros: The work flexibility is a big plus. We can usually WFH two days a week, which really helps beat the Austin, TX traffic. Most managers don't push for weekend work, which is good for a Software Engineer.
Cons: Sprint deadlines get pretty intense sometimes. You'll definitely have some 50-hour weeks, especially leading up to a software release. It's also tough to fully disconnect; there's an expectation to be responsive even after hours for urgent issues.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the sprint cycles more. Consistent overtime shouldn't be the norm for our software development team if you want people to stay.
