We are a community-based, nonprofit agency dedicated to creating lasting impact across Southern California through meaningful, mission-driven work.
For 50 years, CDA has helped families thrive by expanding access to affordable, high-quality child care. We administer a child care reimbursement program in San Diego County that empowers eligible parents to choose the provider that best meets their family’s needs—so they can work, pursue education, or seek employment with confidence.
CDA is also the largest sponsor of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program in California. Through this program, we partner with child care providers to support the delivery of nutritious meals that promote healthy growth and lifelong wellness for children.
The California Department of Social Services selected CDA to administer supplemental payments for eligible child care providers across California—providing critical financial support that helps strengthen programs and sustain the child care workforce.
At CDA, we don’t just offer jobs—we offer careers rooted in purpose and community impact. Our employees are passionate, collaborative professionals committed to equity, service, and positive change. We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer that values diversity, inclusion, and community-driven work.

Pros: I really appreciate the emphasis on teamwork and collaboration here. Projects are often engaging, and there's a genuine willingness from colleagues to help each other out. The remote work setup is fantastic, offering the flexibility I need to manage personal commitments, and the company culture generally feels supportive.
Cons: Sometimes project scope creep can lead to intense periods, especially during deadlines. Communication around urgent client requests could be more streamlined, and occasional approval bottlenecks slow down critical paths. More consistent career pathing discussions would also be beneficial for long-term planning.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing clearer project management frameworks and communication channels to mitigate workload spikes and streamline approval processes. Regular, structured career development check-ins would also be highly valued by employees seeking growth.

Pros: CDA offers genuinely impactful work in the renewable energy space, which is a big plus. The team collaboration is strong, and you often get exposure to different facets of cleantech development. Management is generally approachable, and there's a good hybrid work model in place, allowing for a decent work-life balance. Opportunities to learn new skills are plentiful, especially if you're proactive.
Cons: While career growth is present, sometimes it feels like advancement paths could be more clearly defined. Some internal processes can be a bit slow, and there are occasional resource constraints that can slow down project timelines. The compensation is competitive but not outstanding compared to some other tech sectors.
Advice to Management: Continue investing in clear career path development and streamline project approval processes to accelerate innovation in our cleantech solutions.

Pros: The best part about working here is definitely the respect for personal time. It's rare to feel pressured to stay late, and the remote work options are very solid, making it easy to juggle personal appointments or just avoid a long commute. The teams are generally knowledgeable and willing to help each other out. I've learned a lot here, especially working on complex data analysis tools within the pharmaceutical tech industry.
Cons: While flexibility is good, sometimes communication on project priorities can be a bit scattered, leading to occasional overtime if deadlines are tight, which clashes a little with the generally good work-life balance. Career growth opportunities, while present, can sometimes be slow to materialize due to organizational structure. It would be great to see more structured professional development programs.
Advice to Management: Consider formalizing career pathing and professional development opportunities more visibly for employees. This would enhance retention and engagement, especially for technical roles.
