Pros: As a Project Engineer in the Jacksonville, FL office, my base salary felt pretty competitive for the civil engineering industry. They offer a decent 401k match, which is a big plus for retirement planning. It's a stable mid-sized firm, so you generally feel secure.
Cons: The healthcare benefits aren't great; the deductibles are really high, which eats into my pay. Annual raises are usually pretty small, so it's tough to feel like you're truly getting ahead financially. There isn't much in the way of performance bonuses for engineering roles, either.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving the healthcare options to make them more affordable and comprehensive. Re-evaluate the annual raise structure to ensure it keeps up with inflation and reflects employee contributions more effectively. This would really help with retention in engineering roles.
