Great Mission, Rewarding Assistive Tech Work
Pros: The most rewarding part of being an Augmentative and Alternative Communication Specialist here is the direct impact we have. Seeing clients gain independence through communication is huge. Numotion really supports us in getting the right assistive technology to those who need it. There's a strong sense of purpose, and my colleagues in the Boston team are fantastic collaborators. I've learned a ton about various communication devices and therapies. The flexibility to manage my own schedule and
Cons: While the mission is great, sometimes the administrative processes, especially around insurance approvals for medical equipment, can be a bit slow, impacting job flow and occasionally causing client delays. This can create some uncertainty in workload, which slightly affects job security perception. Also, sometimes it feels like career progression for specialized roles like mine could be a little clearer, with more defined pathways.
Advice to Management: Streamline the insurance approval and administrative processes to reduce delays and provide clearer career advancement opportunities for specialist roles like the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Specialist. This would help with workload consistency and employee retention.

Solid Place to Work in Medical Equipment
Pros: I really like the team dynamic here in Charleston; everyone helps each other out, which makes tackling orders for durable medical equipment much smoother. There's also a good sense of purpose knowing we're building and maintaining essential mobility solutions for people. I've learned a lot about different equipment, from power wheelchairs to custom seating, which is great for career growth. The hours for a Warehouse and Assembly Technician are generally consistent, making for decent work-life
Cons: While the work-life balance is generally good, there are definitely peak times or urgent orders where we have to put in extra hours, which can be tough. Sometimes, the internal communication regarding parts availability for assembly could be quicker, leading to minor delays. It's not a deal-breaker, but improvements in operational efficiency for the warehouse could streamline things further.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving internal communication, especially regarding parts procurement for assembly technicians, to enhance overall operational efficiency. Continue fostering strong team collaboration within the Charleston warehouse and invest in ongoing training for new mobility solutions. Recognizing

Meaningful work in DME, but communication needs refinement
Pros: The best part of working at Numotion is genuinely helping people regain independence through customized mobility solutions. The team environment, especially within the Ocala branch, is generally supportive. I've learned a lot about complex rehab technology and gained valuable experience in client assessments and equipment fitting, which is great for career growth in this specialized healthcare industry.
Cons: At times, communication between different departments or from upper management can be unclear, leading to confusion or delays on client cases. There's also a feeling that some administrative tasks could be more automated or simplified to reduce workload and improve focus on patient care. Navigating internal policies can sometimes be a challenge.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more consistent communication channels and feedback mechanisms. Streamlining administrative workflows would greatly enhance efficiency for field staff.
