Stable Manufacturing Role with Room for Improvement
Pros: The job security at Briggs & Stratton is a definite plus, making it a reliable employer. The team I worked with was generally supportive, and there's a sense of camaraderie on the shop floor. The work itself is engaging enough for those who enjoy hands-on mechanical tasks. The Stone Mountain facility has a long history and offers consistent work.
Cons: While the company offers basic benefits, the pay scale feels a bit stagnant compared to industry averages. Career growth opportunities can be limited unless you're willing to move into management, which requires a significant time commitment. The work flexibility is minimal due to the nature of assembly line production and shift schedules.
Advice to Management: Consider enhancing professional development programs and exploring more competitive compensation structures to retain talent and encourage internal mobility, especially for skilled production roles.

Steady Work and Growth in Distribution
Pros: I've really enjoyed the team environment at the distribution center. Everyone helps each other out, which makes the long shifts much more manageable. There's definitely job security here, especially if you're reliable. I also found opportunities for career growth by showing initiative; I learned different packaging lines and trained new hires, moving up to DC Associate 3 Packaging. The company culture is pretty good, and management generally supports professional development if you ask.
Cons: While there's growth, sometimes the career progression path isn't super clear without actively seeking it out. You really have to advocate for yourself. Also, during peak seasons, the workload can get pretty intense, and work-life balance can sometimes take a hit. Communication flow from upper management down to the floor could be improved slightly to help us understand bigger picture changes more effectively.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in clearer career development paths for DC associates, perhaps through formalized training programs or mentorship. Improving communication regarding company-wide goals and changes would also be beneficial, helping everyone feel more connected to the overall mission of this power

Steady Manufacturing Role with Room for Process Improvement
Pros: The stability of working for a well-established company like Briggs & Stratton is a major plus. My team on the production floor is hardworking and supportive, creating a decent camaraderie. The work itself is consistent, and I've learned a lot about engine manufacturing processes. The pay and benefits package is reasonable for the area and industry, providing good job security.
Cons: Communication from higher leadership can sometimes feel a bit disconnected from the day-to-day operations. Some older machinery could benefit from upgrades to improve efficiency and reduce downtime. While there's some room for growth, advancement opportunities feel a bit slow to materialize for some positions on the line.
Advice to Management: Consider more frequent, transparent communication from leadership about company direction and operational changes. Investing in modernization of some equipment could boost morale and productivity significantly.
